Mate, I don't think it's so cut and dry between the Injections and the Specials. They were adding what are considered Special parts to cars before the launch of the Special and with yours only being a few months away from launch, I wouldn't be surprised if it came with the colour coding and wheels. As far as I can tell there isn't much info out there so you'd have to find other examples of late cars like yours to figure it out. Mine is November '83 and it only has the 5 speed box so I can't help with info on the cosmetics but I feel your pain with the throttle cable! I've found that the new ones can still be a little bit sticky/jerky but if you find a good one then please let me know where you got it from because it can be really annoying in slow speed traffic! Good luck whatever you decide to do with it 👍

get yourself some sharktooths, lattace alloys look stupid on a 4wd - they make late cars look dated aswell, look like a 2wd - wrong wheels in my mind, but each to their own - if youve git to budget youve got ti budget - lattace look wrong on that car it deserves better mate, sorry!

Thanks for the comment and for sharing your thoughts on the wheels. As you probably already know, the Lattice wheels are the correct wheels for an early '91 built Sapphire Cosworth 4x4 (pre-91 facelift car)... so my car should have the Lattice wheels and in the spirit of keeping it as OEM a look as possible, I have stuck with the Lattice wheels albeit I do agree the 'sharktooth' wheels look good.
