Eisenhower saw the Autobahn at the end of World War 2 and was inspired to create the Interstate Highway System in the US when he was President.

@@donsevcik4317 Not highways but those were only roads for horses. Highway is meant for cars so its the world's first highway system. Germans did it first

Probably, I suppose that the autobahn finished by '38, but could be earlier. The Hindenburg fell in '37

As you see only little of the work was done by strong, half-naked „Aryans“ with pickaxe and shovel. That are propaganda shots. The project did a lot to inspire civil engineering but had no overwhelming effect on the job market.
