@loaduponc So very same thing you could found in CRH. It has internet access for privilege class and comfortable seats, catering car is included. A cigar place vertically on the table does not tip as its stability had proven. Furthermore, Acela is built on old tracks which is modify to accommodate them but China built newer tracks for maximum performance. A trip from Beijing to Shanghai can be as short as 4 hours on CRH train and speeding on longer journey than Boston to NYC.

@Ferior There are many things. For example, Hybrid car which technologies were exported to EU and US, because companies in EU and US could not developed. No country could not invent A continuously variable transmission(CVT) for more than 100years. ★Even Germany could not and have given up. ★But in the end of 20th century, Several Japanese makers invented several CVT by the entirely different methods. Germans were astonished knowing this.

some big cities areound the world have airports so close to their city, perhaps they have planned for growth , so built it far out? Does it matter how far it is - since this train will take care of the distance in no time!

I think this kind of train may become the future, but by now, they are extremely costly, and as far as I know they can't manage switches. This is a tremendous drawback since if you need to connect several cities you need to build a very complicated and expensive network. In the future, further improvements may let these trains become the standard in mass transportation, but by now, they seem to me a technical show only.

@Ferior Japan exceeded Europe in the culture standards such as Kabuki, the ukiyoe print,,and so on. As a result, Japonism movement had happened around Paris ★and had a big influence on Europe culture for 100 years. The world's first novel is The Tale of Genji of Japan written in 12th century. Trial system was also established earlier than Europe. Sewer diffusion rate in Edo era had exceeded Europe. So at that time, European had used perfume for concealing a smell.

@Ferior It is natural that Europeans were so astounded because other Asian countries(including China) were so obsolete at that time. And Japan introduced European style law. but this also does not mean that Japan could not make it by themselves. Japan is the country of Wa. Wa is like something harmony. ★④★So Japanese often dare to abandon Japanese things and and adopt and introduce foreign things for avoiding confliction and maintaining peace.

@Ferior But ★Tokugawa Bakufu(government)had banned the development of science and technologies relating military forces for maintaining the peace. As a matter of fact, Japan was already a maximum export country of guns in 16th century before Tokugawa era because Japanese guns were most excellent in that era. So, if Tokugawa did not banned development of science and technologies ,Japan might have invented steam engine which introduced industrial revolution earlier than The British Empire.

★Many Chinese is thinking that if they gain a lot of money by cheap labor and buy or steal foreign technologies, it makes possible for them to invent innovative things. But it's wrong. @loaduponc US high speed rail sucks. Its not high speed at all. The Acela max speed is just 240kph, but its trip average is less than HALF of that (i.e only slightly faster than a car on the highway), and its very noisy like any other old fashioned train that has wheels on tracks. The Chinese maglev trains don't have wheels on tracks, they're almost silent floating above the track. They accelerate to 4-500kph and they just sit at that speed until the stop. Far superior to anything in the USA.
