While I haven't seen the show myself, from what I read it was because of certain groups who called it blasphemous (although the creator was an ordained minister) but groups like that can't see the funny side of things sometimes. I attend church on a regular basis and while I haven't seen this show I have seen Kevin Smith's Dogma which was actually protested against during it's premiere (true story Kevin Smith and a friend of his actually joined the protest but nobody in the group recognized him) but Dogma is actually pretty respective of the stuff it makes fun of.

Oh hey! A fellow God the Devil and Bob fan! I admit I haven't seen too many episodes, but I have seen the one you're using as a clip, and it's very underrated as far as animated sitcoms go.

I like how this scene is not excusing the father's actions, nor is it saying bob doesn't have the right to be angry. In other shows the protagonist would be called out, but not here.

My father never punched me. The only parent that came close to a physical attack against me was my mother. I doubt that's the only reason I've had a messy life, but... I don't know.
