I’ve been in the Keto diet for about 7 months this year and have gone from 235 lbs to 190 lbs. I’m 6’2 and worked in construction for 15 years. I decided to go on the diet to lose weight and hopefully ease some of the pain in my joints and lower back. Within days my joint and back pain were were 90% better. Also, I had bad daily acid reflux that went away practically over night. I’ve passed my goals and am considering staying on the diet longer. Could you please review this article? It’s one of the only scientific studies I’ve been able to find on the Keto diet. Thanks! academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/104/2/324/4564649 It looks like the findings say the Keto diet uses more protein and less fat for energy.

When you get to peefect weight, abs, etc, you could eat one carbohydrates meal after training and/ or before bed. If not, you will be more and more thin. Keto not sustainable for muscles. Tried it and i have listened to a few bodybuilders and nutritionists explaining.
@GregoryMPetersMD

@@jjjuhg Yeah, I've never HAD perfect... any of those things... but the vast majority of the people I see who do, use keto to lose weight, then transition to a diet higher in protein and fat, but increase the carb intake. At that point it becomes more about eating healthy food and adjusting your diet to fit with your goals (distance running, building muscle, etc).

I changed to organic food roughly 10 years ago and of course people laughed. Then I changed to keto clean lifestyle about 2 years ago and people thought I was crazy too. Thomas, Just remember some people don't like change and are very slow to adapt and evolve so they will say things that don't make much sense. Keep on keeping on..you are the man of the year. Thank you so much for all your time and effort put into breaking down the science of keto. I look forward to seeing your videos pop up

The ketogenic diet does work, if you are primarily concerned with losing fat. In short you burn more fat because there's not enough carbs in the body....HOWEVER the potential to store more fat is also there so CICO/calorie balance is still paramount NO MATTER THE DIET.....That being said, fats overall tend to be more satiating than carbs (especially simple carbs) so a person is therefore less likely to go into a caloric surplus with a high fat diet. Just keep in mind that until your body is truly "fat adapted" the amount of fat you will burn in comparison to other substrates such as protein will be moderate, so there will be some muscle breakdown (amino acids) initially prior to getting into dietary ketosis. To offset that I recommend in keeping calories "relatively high" (300- 500kcal per day) via fat and some protein while simultaneously doing resistance training at least 3-4x per week until the body becomes "fat adapted". Once becoming "fat adapted" then the body will autoregulate itself when it comes to using fat via ketones to fuel the body. That's my understanding of it anyways. DEUCES!!!

@Thomas Delauer hey Thomas, question to breakfast. Cortisol is skyhigh in the morning, so not eating seems to recommended right. But eating lowers cortisol levels. So wouldn't it to be beneficial to eat a little bit in the morning? Like some olives or stuff like that. I had an endocrine crash and my body was overstressed for 2 months, now I'm just trying to find the right way to keep my body as relaxed as possible for awhile.

Thomas, Thank you so much for your commitment to health & sharing this education, It has changed my life. I visited a friend that I hadn't seen for a long time and he looked amazing. I had been going to gym eating low fat diet and consuming only 2000 cal a day. I still had belly fat, inflammation and stress. He sent me this chanel and Siim Lands chanel and said give it a shot. I immediately started a 3 day fast using the recommended protocol. It was tough for the first 24 hrs mainly because I spend the 3 days cleaning out my kitchen and shopping for the keto diet. I had been using ibuprofen, and inhalers for asthma daily, my sex drive was low and my over all motivation in my career was as well. I have lost 41 lbs and gained muscle. I'm same weight today as when I graduated High School. No more ibuprofen or inhalers, have my sex drive back and motivation for life. It's actually emotional in a good way to realize this improved ME & makes me a angry that or society has lied to us for so long and is allowed to sell us the food that is actually making them rich while killing us. Ok I won't go down that rabbit hole. Stay positive!

Well explained I hit this video by a search after i heard a weird hypothesis that energy system in the muscles and in ketogenic diet relays only on fat that transformed into glucose, before it gets to the cell. I pretty sure that the author of this hypothesis was talking about gluconeogenesis (GnG) process that happens in the liver. Is it true that GnG happens less frequently and is not the main energy units supplier (comparing to fatty acids and ketones)?

Hi all, with that analysis I have some questions. If on ketosis is the liver that will make the work what would happen with people like me that has a fatty liver? I have one doctor that told me that my diet should be on low fat but another dr told me that since I have fatty liver my diet should be on low carbs because he explain me that carbs converts in fat that is store in the liver. So that is the reason I'm trying Keto. I'm also taking Vitamin E of 400 because the dr told me that the Vitamin E will help me to don't have more new fat in the liver.
