Welcome to my Honda Ruckus Build Series! In this series, I will be showing you the entire process of making doing a custom stretched, slammed, GY6 engine swap Ruckus/Zoomer! I'll cover parts needed, installation tips, mod suggestions and more, but most of all, having fun showing you the choices I make to build a super cool custom Ruckus!
In this video (Part 3), we start getting part shipments in! A huge box from build sponsor TheRuckShop.com with a bunch of goodies, including the wheels that will be going on the Ruckus! Along with it, we've got everything needed for powdercoating, including the GY6 motor mount and extension kit. After that, I get to one of the most tedious parts of the build: grinding off all the unnecessary tabs on the frame and headlight bracket.
Enjoy the video/series or find it useful? Hit that like button, subscribe if you aren't already, and share it with your friends! It helps me and the channel out a lot :) Thanks!

If you can get theses frame parts sand blasted, if not get some paint remover. That would mean you just have to lightly sand the frame in prep for the paint. You could also get the frame powder coated when you get the wheels done.

Motonosity, please use a vise, or clamps or something when using the grinder. It will keep your other hand out of the way and hold the piece your grinding much more secure.
@theshawnofficial6180
@theshawnofficial6180 7 жыл бұрын
Also, you should get a flat disk. Is a bit of a compromise between the sanding disk and the cut off wheel. Is solid, but you use the front face rather than the edge. It probably would have saved you alot of time with the sanding wheel.
@rapidchoper
@rapidchoper 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, cringed at the one hand on the grinder too. Please use two hands, grinders have a nasty tendency to kick, you don't want to grind off something that isn't that bracket.

Just my two cents. There's flap wheels that you can buy upwards of 90 grit that will polish very well. And those fiber resin sanding pads are better with the plastic backing, because when you catch an edge on those, they grenade like nobody's business. Not a criticism, just might be easier on you.

Hey +Motonosity, Not sure if you know, but when you use an angle grinder with a cutting wheel make sure you always have the sparks shooting towards you. If they are shooting away from you and the cutting wheel kicks back it will kick towards you. Had a friend almost lose his arm that way and I just wanna make sure you're safe. Also, get a flapper disc instead of a sanding wheel and you'll save yourself a ton of time grinding.

Just as a little tip, that "sanding disc" you are using is missing its backing piece, which is why you aren't able to put alot of pressure on it. When you need to sand things down like this in the future use a flap disc instead, any hardware store has them. It will sand that stuff down alot faster and easier. When I am cutting tab's off on tubing like this I also use a palm sander with 100 grit sand paper after using the flap disc (for example at 17:13) makes it look like nothing was even there and takes all the flat spots away. Hope this helps you or anyone in the future!

LMFAO those almost look like car wheels!!!!! they are amazing looking though :O very nice!! your way of organizing the bolts and stuff!!! thanks for showing that. i mean its kinda common sense but i never thought of doing it like that. guess i don't have common sense :( lol jk. but yeah me and my GF took apart her Yamaha R3 to paint it. LMFAO and when we put it back together we ended up having a bunch of extra bolts and stuff that we could not figure out where the hell they went to. lmao the bike is perfectly held together though and nothing has fallen off so yeah lol :D ..... i will for sure be using your taping the parts to a piece of paper and labeling the stuff method.. thanks again for showing that!!!!! the grinder you were using and how you said it was like to big to get in there. i think the dremel tool you have and i am not 100% for sure about this but i believe you can get really small strong cutting wheels for that might burn up through them faster than that grinder you were using but might have been a little easier getting into the smaller areas.... or maybe its the air compressor dremel tool type thing i am thinking of lol i know how to use tools lol but i have never been very good at remember the names for them :( sorry if i write you such big ass comments i like to watch your video and as it plays write what i thinking when you talk about it sooo yeah sorry again lol and also thanks again for making these build series and just making your videos in general i love watching them just ride safe man :D and work safe!!!! lol :)

@G_Wheezy
@G_Wheezy 7 жыл бұрын
Not sure what your plan is for the horn, but if you want a cleaner look you can install it behind the plastic panel that the headlight assembly mounts to. If you noticed the slots in the plastic, that's where the horn is usually mounted, but apparently there's some US requirement that forced Honda to relocate it. There's a mounting point already there and everything, just use that same bolt.

For getting rid of brackets, use a cut off wheel for majority, then smooth out with a flap sanding disk. The hard compound "Grinder disc" are terrible for smoothing. Flap discs get a much better surface. If you want to finesse it even better get a good metal file and go at 45 degree swipes. Will almost negate the need for sanding and be level.
