Faux Pies 🥧

Hi friends! Today I’m sharing my faux pies, I love how they turned out! This isn’t an easy craft, so this isn’t a tutorial, but I share my process with you and you’ll see these come together, almost step by step, I wasn’t able to film the entire process because of the intensity of the project but I have a good tutorial linked below for you from a fellow creator you’ll enjoy! She doesn’t use clay for her lattice pie but you can get the idea of how to weave from her video, to attached the raw clay to the dried clay you simply add water and it acts like a glue. Then go back and paint your lattice work and add the coffee grunge all over to finish!

Thank you Liz!!! I wish I wouldn’t have lost some of the footage…the lattice work was fairly simple but it was a bit of a process to bond dry clay with wet clay and i know it would have been helpful to see for anyone wanting to try this but maybe I’ll try to film it again one day. 🥰♥️

You are truly an artist! These are so amazing. You should see these in your booth when it opens, I have never seen these sold anywhere. I can imagine people would pay quite a bit for such a dream pie, cake, or other bakery goods. Anyway, thank you for sharing your process. Looks like it is time consuming but a very worthwhile project and they look as good a few years later don't they? Have a beautiful week!

When I went looking for a tutorial on how to make them from clay I couldn’t find any lattice work clay ones so I totally winged that! I’ll be selling them for sure and there is a huge market for faux foods in the Art world, for theatrical productions and such so who knows, one day my faux food art may be in a movie! Lol 😂 😂♥️

Can you tell me again how you did the topping for the pecan pie . Before you put the pecans on?

Sure, it’s just a process of layering coffee grunge, drying with a hairdryer between layers of your like me and inpatient lol. You can add cinnamon and mod podge to thicken your coffee grunge to help speed up the layering because you won’t need as many layers.

Hi there! Coffee grunge is a mixture of coffee grounds and spices with hot water. The basic ingredients are the coffee grounds and water. You can use already used coffee grounds or dry instant coffee, I prefer the cheap dry instant coffee grounds. I use about 1/4 cup grounds to about 1/3 cup water then I add cinnamon, cloves, and vanilla extract…eyeball these and put in as much as you’d like for the sent and color you’re looking for. I use an old spaghetti sauce jar to put it all in and then shake it well. You can keep it in the fridge and reheat when you need to use it. It’s a really simple way to get both color and scent incorporated into projects! 🥰♥️

Hi there! I currently don't sell my DIY's. I have been asked to sell them often, and I have always declined and never gave it serious thought but I may look into selling my faux foods. I love using faux foods in my decor and it can be expensive to buy so I started making my own and showing people how to make them. If I do start to sell them I will have a "shop" tab that you can select on my videos so just keep a look out for that. Thanks so much for asking, it gives me more motivation to start looking into that option!

I like the pecan pie but the pumpkin pie looks kind of gross. I don't think a edible thing should look grubby, I'm going to have to figure out a way to make it look more natural because that doesn't at all.
