Grateful for everyday living on the mountaintop in our transformed log/farmhouse. We offer food from scratch, handmade DIY, old-timey skills, and simple living for 2!
We still love to do all the things we did when we had a larger family, only in smaller portions.
We love to cook, bake (even on a wood stove), make DIY projects including sewing, weaving, and home renovations, and enjoy everyday living in our log/farmhouse on the mountain ridge!
We still practice old-timey skills that we introduced to our children as they were growing up and homeschooled almost 3 decades ago. Some of these skills that we, as empty-nesters, are still using: soap making with lye, hand-dipping beeswax candles, dyeing textiles, rendering beef fat into tallow, canning, dehydrating, and preserving foods, hand-hewing logs, making homemade natural cleaners, bath soaps and more.
Follow along and join our community. We offer a newsletter to all our blog subscribers each time we upload new content.

I am tweaking a little "quiet doll" as we speak, but I have a little bunny that is completed with printable pattern and next to video. I will be starting with a smaller type of doll, to get viewers familiar with the prim process, such as making eyes and noses. Then I will tackle a larger prim doll like this one. Thanks so much for the kind words and the watch, I appreciate that!

Great tutorial! Can't wait to try!🧡 Can you please tell me how people securely fasten stick noses onto their dolls like that?
@FarmhouseBC
@FarmhouseBC 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I like to cut the hole very small and slowly work the stick in. I try and not use a glue gun if at all possible. when making prim dolls. It helps if the stick has little barbs or splinters on them, they seem to "grab" the cotton which helps them stay intact. I should have a prim rabbit video up tomorrow, it's almost all edited. Make sure and hit the bell for notification :)

I’m curious if you’ve ever grunged any kind of stuffed animal? I have a bunny I’d like to grunge to make more primitive. But I’m not sure how it would turn out. It’s furry and I’d like to use it as an Easter decoration. Thank you.

Yes, I have done old teddy bears, they came out cute. I would dab it on maybe not brush to keep the fur pile in tack. Thanks for the watch and the comment :)

How long in dehydrator?
@FarmhouseBC

I do a low setting, like for herbs, start with 30 minutes, check each half hour. If you put it directly on the wire racks, it will leave lines, which is ok sometimes but not on the dolls, they should be on a silicone sheet.

What r the spices for?
@FarmhouseBC
@FarmhouseBC 10 ай бұрын
For the color and the prim textured look. You could just use instant coffee, but you will not have that beautiful prim look that the spices add. Plus it smells soooo great!!
