Faux Polymer Clay Technique: Faux Red Tiger Eye Lariat Tutorial

Very nice! Beautiful execution of the tiger eye effect. And yes, I, along with everyone else, would love to see a faux Blue Tiger Eye, too 😉 I can't wait to try out the Faux Tiger Eye technique! Thanks for your dedication, and your most excellent polymer clay and teaching skills. I sure enjoy watching your videos. Samantha, sometimes when I'm dealing with a suede lace that's kind of wavy like that, I'll wet the entire cord and hang it with something clamped to the end, pull it taught, and smooth it with my hand as if I were smoothing my hair after washing it, to pull it straight, and then just let the suede hang straight like that until it dries. That'll usually ease that waviness a good bit, often straightening it out satisfactorily for me. If I see that it's very kinky, I'll do it before I use the suede in whatever I'm making. I don't use suede often enough to have a dedicated "suede straightening station," but it is a technique that I have found helpful when working with kinky or wavy suede that I'm going to want to lay more smoothly in a finished piece. A be-careful with this technique, though, is that sometimes if the suede has been colored or dyed, getting it wet may possibly cause the color to bleed a little, so if you try that technique for straightening suede, just be aware of the possibility that the color might bleed a little when the suede is wet.

Do you sell your finished pieces? I can't find any on Etsy. I'd love it if you would carry leathers and special ribbons and chains used in your projects on your Etsy shop. Do you have any other outlets?

Hi Samantha ... I am a mosaic artist and have recently started working with polymer clay as well ... do you know if you can combine traditional mosaic art with polymer clay? I am particularly concerned about the grouting process, or if this is a problem with polymer clay. I am experimenting myself but would appreciate any advice you might have. Thx Helen
