I will absolutely never get enough of you two geeking out about Papa Gwynne's stories, I think it's so lovely to see how much they have meant to you! And First Law is a very worthy second place, I still have to read Age of Madness but that entire universe is just amazing!

esmayrosalyne, The Age of Madness is just as good as the first trilogy and The Trouble with Peace should be considered his masterpiece. I am waiting for his newest short story collection , The Great Change & Other Lies to come out on audiobook. Stephen Pacey must have been busy filming in The House of the Dragon.

I think the only logical thing now is we need a video of Ed just bantering WIll about the Silmarillion, and then I would assume there's something WIll can poke fun of for Ed. It could start light-hearted and then end in a full-blown duel in full medieval fashion to defend the honor of their favorite books! And I'm not surprised at the Number 1 for you guys. Personally, I think I'd agree, though I'm still on my journey through your dad's work. I can't wait to finish Bloodsworn later this year, and then get started with the Faithful and the Fallen!

You two both have impeccable taste, but old Tom Bombadillo most approves of Will’s take on The Silmarillion. That said, Ed’s favorite First Law characters are spot on - you have to be realistic about these things. Your numbers two and most especially one brought a tremendous smile to my face. How can you not like The Blade Itself? It sets up just a truly phenomenal trilogy! If you don't love book one, how can you even appreciate the rest? I knew from book 1 that the rest was going to be even better. Great writer! Awesome to see your top picks! I've put a few of these onto my TBR now. I'm really looking forward to reading LotR. It's been long long overdue. I follow you guys and I haven't read your dad's books yet...I feel a bit guilty. They are all on my TBR though! Don't fret. But I own bloodsworn and pre ordered book 3 and I am reading each book each week in October!

"When will you read some Papa Gwynne?" Honestly, your dad's books were on my TBR for like a year. I kept knocking out Dresden titles and the original Red Rising books instead. But over the last 6-8 weeks, I've been reading Faithful and the Fallen. I immediately fell in love with Corban's story (and it hit close to home since I rescued a puppy back in January that's turning out to be a LARGE boy!) and now I'm halfway through Wrath and dreading that this story soon. They're so good.

The Faithful and the Fallen is my all-time favorite series. I laughed and cried so much with the character they actually feel like friends. It's a comfort series for me and helped me get out of my reading slump after a burnout some years ago. Great choices in both the honorable mentions and the actual list

Thank you for bringing the Oathsworn, Boudica, and The Winternight Trilogy to my attention. Manda Scott being compared to Hobb is high high praise for me, she is my favorite author. I can’t wait to check out Malice and Blood and Bone because I LOVE the Bloodsworn Saga and Orka is easily one of my favorite characters. Those books reminded how much I love Vikings and how cool I think they are. I think it is so amazing that Mr. Gwynne wrote those stories for you guys when you were kids. That is just so heartwarming. Also, Ed, don’t you dare dog on the Silmarillion, I’m on Will’s side- it’s amazing. Now Will… GO READ LIVESHIP, it makes the Fitz books even better (and I am well aware of how crazy that sounds).

Love this - thank you - Rob Lowe was one of our stalwarts in the early days of the HWA (Historical Writers Association) A truly amazing guy and a brilliant writer. The world is lesser for his passing. ❤

I remember Young Samurai! It was amazing! Absolutely heart-wrenching at points. I remember not wanting to read the next book after one of the big ones, because it was just so sad. But it was so amazingly written

Joe Abercrombie is my favourite author. Had me hooked on the first page. Blade itself is not a boring book.

I am reading ‘Malice’ for the first time. I am on page 383. I struggled to read this book for personal disability issues, but I have overcome that obstacle. I am thoroughly enjoying it. Thanks for your countdown. Truth and courage.

Hi guys I just ordered The Faithful and The Fallen series i'll be getting them on the 4th of July. I'm reading the 1st law trilogy right now, then i'm going to read the Five Warrior Angels series by Brian Lee Durfee then I will be starting the Faithful series. I don't know when i'll be done i'm not a fast reader but i'm looking forward to all of them. Keep up the good work and i'll keep writing down most of your recommendations.

Ed my favorite chapters, The White Rider & the The Uruk- Hai are in the Two Towers but overall I love Fellowship of the Ring the most. This may be an unpopular opinion but the Tom Bombadil was very needed, it gave us a respite from action prior.

Will. You have to read Liveship. Yes I’m telling you what to do. 😂😂😂 Then read The Willful Princess & The Piebald Prince. Then read Tawny Man trilogy which starts with my so far absolute favorite book in the series- Fools Errand. Seriously. SERIOUSLY. I bought Bloodsworn and Faithful & Fallen series because of your (and so many others’ 😁) recommendations and I’m so stoked to read them after I finish RotE. So tag. You’re it. 😂. Seriously though I love your videos!! You guys are my favorite to watch and your recommendations are always sincere insightful informative and fun. Thank you Will & Ed!! So much!! ✌🏻🎶💃🏼❤️📚

Justice for Tom Bombadil. All he wants to do is hang out in the forest and sing. There are so many amazing books in this video!! I'm currently reading Last Argument of Kings and I'm finally understanding the Abercrombie hype. Jezal is just a loveable douchebag, but Logen and Ferro are my favourites. I'll definitely go and watch your First Law videos once I've finished the trilogy. I am also a chronic rewatcher of things I love, don't be ashamed Will 😂 I think Two Towers might be my favourite, but it's honestly so hard to choose! It makes my heart happy whenever you guys talk about how much you love Papa Gwynne's books ❤ can't wait to read his books with everyone over on the discord

I read the Bloodsworn first 2 in 7 days and that is with 3 babies to care for; the sleep lost was worth it despite doing it with the goal of reading book 3 this month... i learned too late into 1 that I misread the release date. I look forward to seeing how he ends it. Curious to know though, ha Papa Gwynne made known any reason to go beyond the trilogy with this world?

Most of these I have never read. As a matter of, none except LoTR, and that almost 50 years ago. I know, shame shame shame. Oh, I lied. I have read Red Rising first 5 books. How could I forget?! I def need to read a Hobb, Gwynne, and Abercrombie book before I die.

Yes and start with the Andy Serkis’s narrations of the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, then Stephen Pacy’s audio narration of First Law! Then jump into the Bloodsworn by Papa Gwynne. It will be pure fantasy nirvana Mr. Gauth

RedRising has been getting glowing reviews. I got the paperbacks for under $50 - 1 came a bit ripped up, but otherwise clean set. I figured worse case Ill fosho con someone from taking it off me with all this damn hype. Ha!

Don’t know about you Ed but i thought cities of the plain reads like a generic western in comparison to the brilliant other two books in the trilogy. Something about the writing felt off

It definitely was a touch off, especially for McCarthy and very different to the previous two, but I didn't mind so much. The focus of Cormac was definitely in a different place for Cities. Ed

No! But the second trilogy in the realm of the Elderlings is the Liveships. Do not miss it out, it is amazing and contains so much that pertains to the rest of the books. PLEASE keep reading!
