despite SQU4D being the newest and smallest division in JYP they've learned and grown so quickly with Nmixx, I hope they never change

so true! but i hope that they'll always change for the better and that they keep taking steps to better develop themselves, they're a pretty unique division and aren't afraid to take risks and artistic liberties and i respect that

what i really love is that the album is also sonically consistent. all the songs are unique, yet cohesive; it feels like these songs were meant to be released together. and there is not a single bad song, literally a no skip album. this is _the_ album of 2024 for me.

This album continues to be probably my favorite release this year! I like that it’s bold and confident yet still quite balanced and more refined than ever before; the concept is realized in a really compelling way in my opinion. I’ve loved Nmixx for a while but this body of work has cemented my feelings towards this group! A mordern day classic indeed!😁

When Soñar dropped, I KNEW they were returning to the MIXXPOP concept and I was so sure it was going to be amazing. I remember watching the behind videos, and all the members were very excited for this kind of sound again because it’s fun and they can do a lot with it because they have so much talent. Personally Love Me Like This and the Mid Summer dream album for me was like a way for the concept to sink in even more for the K-pop community. They started out with a bang and, even though they got heavily criticized for it, switching up to a more traditional sound kinda of increased the value of the first two songs, if you get what I mean. I think by switching up the concept also was sending us a message like: Yes, we can pull off traditional songs really well, but that’s not all we are going to settle for. Also, i still I feel like Dice is a bit under appreciated, because when they came out with O.O, they basically told everyone, this is our concept, and even though we got criticized we are going to do it again, but even better. Because the concept of Dice/gambling/alice in wonderland works with the mixxpop concept so well, and the sound and production was literally amazing as well. Like from my point of view, they already got mixxpop down they dropped Dice; they showed everyone mixxpop can be done well. Anyway, those are just my thoughts. I really love NMIXX and their music, when Fe304 dropped I listened to all the songs and knew they were all bangers. I hope they get more love and appreciation.

If we consider boom as mixpop thats 3 songs of the album being mixpop and answers the criticisms some people were saying that if the mix genre isnt a gimmick for them then why is it only in the title tracks but here we have two mix bsides

I love Nmixx. Sometimes I sit down and think whoever is running nmixx musically really loves this group because this album was everything. I think giving the girls non mix pop albums were very intelligent because first of all these girls are getting dragged through the dirt and they didn't deserve that. They deserved to break but also provide time to perfect mixpop and they did. You know during the recent "controversies" I'm saying it in quotes because it's just nitpicking. I noticed a lot of people saying "well this group is a flop group so jyp needs to promote them" it makes me think that oh yes people have completely missed out on a huge chapter of these girls' discography because the insults from their debut era are present. And because people still hold negative bias towards them from their debut, I think people are shocked when nmixx can pull big numbers or can do something that is very impressive, groups like New Jeans or Le Sserafim can do. I noticed that a lot of people like to reject the idea that these girls are competition, capable of pulling big numbers and having a large fan base. This album let's the girls shine in such a way that it makes me fall in love with their voices even more. Like Bae in run for roses!!!!! All the girls did amazing but you cannot lie that she was not the centerpiece vocally for this song. The way passion fruit lets the girls get playful with their voices I love it and boom so good the production is so good. Like I have always listened to their music but this album really turned me into Nswer. Like I play their songs every single day. O.O and Tank too. I'm just so upset that they're discography is still so small that I can get through their songs within a day. Like these girls need a 16 long song album. Anyway I love hearing praise for this girl group. And no better person could praise them with your level of eloquence.

Nmixx is my ult group. It's simple, I can't choose a bias, just like I can't choose my favourite song on the album. The girls are all equally talented and the bsides are all excellent. For me, this is the best album of 2024 to date and I'm very happy to see it so acclaimed because I really consider it to be a masterpiece that few albums in the 4th gen can match. Beyond their incredible talent, I appreciate Nmixx's work ethic and their undeniable passion for music, especially kpop. It's refreshing to see them doing covers, dance challenges or live shows, instead of attending fashion shows. I feel like I stan artists, who are constantly working to improve and genuinely enjoy their craft, rather than products. All the more so as the girls have faced some major waves of undeserved hatred and I have a lot of respect for their perseverance. I can only hope they have a lot of success, and I hope people understand that Nmixx was made for art, not for the charts. Their concept may not be for everyone, but with such talent it would be criminal to give them only mainstream sounds (I' pretty sure it's the same people who describe Nmixx and Babymonster as 'wasted talent' for opposite reasons). And this album has confirmed that while Nmixx can cover any group, they definitely are a unique group in today's kpop that no one could imitate.

Nmixx could easily get by with just their talent, but they are committed to their concepts like few other groups. I wrote a whole ass college paper on the death of mixxpop, and I've never been so happy to have been so wrong.

this album is like jyp heard the soundtracks for splatoon 1, 2, and several of the 3D sonic games and was like, “WRITE THAT DOWN WRITE ALL OF THIS DOWN”. it is up there as one of my favorite album releases this year. if artms’s dall and nayeon’s abcd didn’t exist, it would be my number one. i’m not an nmixx stan (as it stands currently, i’m merely a casual listener) but they put their all into this album and deserve every bit of praise they’ve been getting.

the songs within the album remind me heavily of splatoon 1 + 2 story mode themes, as well as some stuff in the octo expansion dlc and multiplayer. the album itself is very splatoon-coded with its sound

I am an Nswer (which u can tell by the pfp) and I am really grateful for this video's release, especially since the mini album was released almost half a year ago and Nswers have been anticipating their new release for a while now Thank you for this video and keeping up Nmixx's momentum!!! This video essay is insightful and profound I would also like to add that another KZfaqr, Taejiu, mentioned an interesting point that Mixxpop is an ambitious concept which can be done well but it would require a few tries to really execute the sound to its full potential. The release of O.O was rough but Dice refined it a lot more (as shown by the virality of Big Wave). Dash has really hit the nail on its head with the concept and as Taejiu said, what it really needed were a few tries and experimentation, which is quite difficult to do in the vicious competition between 4th gen ggs

This is just some information I’ve collected and theories: With the JYP investors meeting thingey, it is revealed that the next NMIXX comeback is going to be later this year. This would make this break the longest hiatus yet… hence there are theories that the next comeback will be their full albumn. During one of their concerts, they revealed that the reason why sometimes there is MIXXPOP and sometimes there isn’t is because if there was always MIXXPOP, you would lose the surprise and fun from it. So I wonder… how would they be able to surprise us in the next comeback? I feel like I may have put NMIXX up a too high expectation, cause I’ve been loving wverything they have been doing and idk… it just feels like DASH is smth rlly hard to top. DASH already felt like the payoff for the last 2 years, so idk how the nezt comeback can top it

It's. So. Good. The album takes the listener on a wild ride with so many twists and turns but is woven together tightly. I have to admit, when I first heard O.O, I wasn't that much of a fan because I perceived it to be janky, like it was a little too slapped together and the parts didn't transition smoothly. A bit of that is can be good but I thought it could have been done better. I've come around on O.O a little (the fact that they made something like that is itself praiseworthy, and the vocals are great) since, but I feel like the whole mix concept has been honed over time and Fe3O4: Break is the most skillful the writing has ever been (Dice was impressive too but somewhere in between). When you add the diversity of sounds and styles that NMIXX draw on, it becomes a truly amazing piece of art. I listen to a lot of progressive music, classical, and jazz, and so I appreciate that quality of surprise and complexity in music. But after so many years of listening to those styles with a lot of the same instruments and ideas, very little surprises me anymore and it feels very samey. NMIXX on the other hand, are charting new territory and the music feels so new and vibrant. Giving the songs more space to breathe is also letting the talent and passion of the members really shine through. Easily a 10/10.

Jyp as a company honestly can do stuff. It does not untill it seriously harms charting and money buisness. Nmixx-Fe304 is the best album of 2024. (Asepa was a competition, but after the release, no!!). Itzy is reclaiming it's music. The concept photos and teasers for skz is looking too good for skz in a while. The teaser that they have released could be made to a full movie. Hopefully it's an concept album as well. Anyway.. I m just a girl I want nmixx to be bigger.👉👈

i wonder if its conceptually relevant that their earlier releases have a turbulent reception, but when they go to uptopia, in lmlt they begin to grow an audience which they bring back to dystopia for fe3o4 break. we know that o.o was meant to be divisive and difficult, which aligns with their narrative position at the beginning, outspoken and unrealized. yet as they gain perspective on the nature of mixx/utopia they return to tangibly change utopia with supported by a greater following, a wisdom that they gained thru their travels. in a way its the kind of narrative you can only do from a large company when your inevitable success is sort of baked into your existence (both through the massive resources of jyp and the refined talent of the group)
@choujimi
@choujimi 26 күн бұрын
Yeah definitely! I find it hard to believe that nobody at JYPE thought O.O was going to be hard to process, especially being the first song ever released from a new group - the reception it got had to of been intentional in some way

Here is a random revelation I just thought of: Every song before Boom had a more intense and darker sound. Boom has the change up but near the end, and it doesn't return back to its more darker sound and instead ends with its lighter sound. This transitions to the second half of the EP with a more upbeat feel. (FYI Me knows nothing about music but just a feeling)

This album was released at the same time as Born to be was, and initially I wasn't really interested since I wasn't NMIXX' fan, both albums havd a bit too close color palette (I even mistook Run for Roses for one of Itzy's MVs) and I was sorta disappointed by Born to Be (song) so I wasn't really expecting anything from JYP releases. But then I have listened to Run for Roses, Dash, Sonar and it made me fall for NMIXX, re-listen DICE and the rest of Expergo songs, and finally understand what actually NMIXX are trying to say and who they really are. Also I was a bit afraid of O.O because of all of the critique, but I have gathered my courage and listened to it... and it's actually fabulous. NMIXX are the ones who ain't trying to choose one concept or to prove anything, but they are doing everything, everywhere and all at once. They weren't intented to be not chaotic and normal in the first place. I kinda thing they have really good concept - not mixpop, but dreaming and going for these dreams, for their roses, but since being so extra, so too much is not a trend right now, they weren't as popular. Also I feel like they are excactly what I was execting from K-pop - bright, chaotic and very special. In a way they are ahead of their time so it's hard for them to be fully understood. And now it's one of my favourite groups.

when i first heard O.O and dice it was when i had honestly lost interest in kpop and i thought i had sort of phased out of it. but those songs instantly reignited my interest upon hearing them. they felt like everything i wanted to hear from kpop and more. after that i did a deep dive into nmixx and i really loved their lore (even tho i never cared for lore groups before), their personalities, and their talents! i was a little disappointed to see that they strayed from mixxpop (though i ended up really loving expergo and amnd), but fe3o4 really shows the potential they have and makes me so excited for their future as a group. i think you are spot on with your analysis in this video. squ4d is doing so much right rn and i hope they continue this way!! a group with integrity that doesnt just trend follow will have longevity as they build a stable and consistent fanbase with their concept and talents i’m sure. thank you for making videos about them 🫶 they are a special group
