What’s happening in this Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas movie clip?
Duke (Johnny Depp from Edward Scissorhands, Arizona Dream and Pirates of the Caribbean) and Gonzo (Benicio del Toro from Traffic) speed across the Nevada desert. Duke, under the influence of mescaline, complains of a swarm of giant bats, and inventories their drug stash. They pick up a young hitchhiker and explain their mission.

What’s the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas movie about?
In 1971, the journalist Raoul Duke (Johnny Depp from Edward Scissorhands, Arizona Dream and Pirates of the Caribbean), accompanied by his lawyer, Mr. Gonzo (Benicio del Toro from Traffic), was on his way to Las Vegas because he was assigned to cover a major sporting event, the 400 miles of Las Vegas. But this report is only a pretext because Duke and Gonzo took a whole range of drugs with them. When they arrive at the hotel, Duke is in the middle of an acid surge and his hallucinations draw attention to him. One morning, Duke discovers that Gonzo has flown to Los Angeles. Faced with the damage and the astronomical bill, Duke flees by car. Duke calls Gonzo and Gonzo informs him that he has booked a suite for them at the Flamingo Hotel to cover a police narcotics convention. Duke and Gonzo then go to the convention but can't make it and return to their suite. Gonzo gets Duke to try adrenochrome, then they engage in a frenzy of various drugs, with Duke remembering only scattered memories. Duke takes Gonzo to the airport and returns to the hotel to finish his article. He then returns to Los Angeles.

OK, so critics and audiences liked “The Hangover”, but not this. That pretty much confirms the basic premise of “Fear and Loathing”. I bet people didn’t understand the word “loathing”, so, the figured it was some art film or something.

I would counter that with “The Ninth Gate”. I would dare you to sit through that film and retract your opinion. Johnny Depp portraying HST, near flawlessly, is highly respected by many fans of his. You could confuse Hunter for portraying Johnny in interviews after learning how much time Johnny spent learning about Hunter. Maybe it’s that you don’t understand who HST is and what the plot of the character is all about. By the way, Toby was young in this film.
