You mean... "Corona-virus". As long as it comes with P3 filters (which is the best protection), that's fine. I prefer the encapsulated filters as their filters are not exposed and the user cannot physically touch the filter, potentially getting in contact with the viral particles. I have to say, 3M equipment don't come cheap. Just treat them well.

We have not heard of this as being an issue. With the downward facing exhalation valve cover, there really is no direct path. In theory the exhaled breath opens the valve as needed, and the escaping air holds back external contaminants. Now, it may be possible given all that for something to get through, but it seems fairly unlikely.

The 3M 6000 full face respirator is available in 3 sizes. They use 6700 for Small, 6800 for Medium, and 6900 for Large. As far as what size to order, this depends on your facial size. There are no metrics around this (inches, width, etc.). So if you perceive that you have a 'small' face, then that is the size to go with. And small is pretty small. Medium covers a wide spectrum, and Large is just that. Noticeably large. Hope that helps

If you wish to keep the beard then consider a papr system like the 3M versaflo. Its not cheap and expect to pay 10 times the price of this respirator.

The CDC recommends N95 rated filters or higher. P100 would fall under this.

The mask should be fine. It is the cartridges or filters that you need to have. Bow, pyrotechnics are not a common request, and could have any number of compounds involved. Because of that, I would suggest the 3M 60926 combination multi-gas cartridge. In these pandemic times, all respirator filters and cartridges are in short suply, so can't right off suggest where to buy. Thank you

The 3M 2091 is rated P100. This is the equivalent of the old HEPA designation. This means that the filter (and mask combination) have been tested and approved to remove 99.97% of particle 0.3 microns in size or larger. We make no representations about the effectiveness against this or any other virus.

@@rickpedley1099 correction to your statement 0.3 micron in size or larger. Actually the 0.3 micron is the most difficult to filter which is why they are tested at 0.3 micron particle size. Filters can block much below 0.3 microns, even down to 0.01 micron and do a much better job at it.

The 3M 7800 full face respirator has it's body made from black silicone rubber. This would be considered a premium mask, and is in some ways superior to the 3M 6000 series full face masks. The protection offered is the same. Not a better mask from that standpoint, just the same. Where you get some benefit is the soft silicone compound is more comfortable, and is also inert. That is, silicone is generally felt to be hypoallergenic, and may cause less irritation for those folks with sensitive skin and lungs. Silicone will also tend to last longer, as it is less prone to breaking down from contact with skin oils and other contaminants.

There are no metrics related to size. No length, diameter, width, etc. Please remember that these masks were originally made for industrial applications. In general, the masks are intended to be fit tested, and the sizing determined by an experienced safety related person. As a guide, the small is just that. Typically a woman with a noticeably small face. Large is as the name implies, and the person wearing it will either be a large man with a noticeably large head or a particularly long face. Once again, noticeably so. The medium size fits everyone else. The vast majority of masks we sell are medium size. Hope this helps, and thank you for the question.

@@matrix7288 The 3M 60926 is glued together during assembly, and cannot (to my knowledge) be broken apart. That said, there are no replacement elements available for this since it is never intended to come apart. There are no cotton filters involved. The P100 (HEPA) portion of the cartridge is a folded filter media, and very specifically manufactured to reliably meet these standards. Home made alternatives really have no chance of actually providing this level of protection.

@@mrarrow3279 3M offers a wide variety of filters and respirators. Often these are country or region specific. The 3M 6035 I found on their website as being for Nigeria? So the rating and physical form are quite different from what we have in the US. That said, from appearance only, they look roughly equivalent to our N95? This is a guess only. For the purpose you are asking about, they should be more than adequate for the job.

The full face mask protects the eyes and face, in addition to filtering the air. Fire fighting tends to hot and sweaty work, so wearing a full face respirator may be a challenge. For filters, we would suggest the 3M 7093 P100 (HEPA) to trap the smoke particles at a minimum. When toxic substances are burning, you may also want to consider the 3M 60926, which combines a multi-gas cartridge with the P100 filter. The downside I see to this is the increased breathing resistance. Please bear in mind that in no way will this eliminate respiratory risks associated with being in close contact with a fire environment.

I guess there is no full face mask can stand the heat I already lost two plastic headlights .....they just melted so maybe the filter will melt ..... And you are right breathing in such face mask is much harder in hot smoke environment specially when you are carrying equipment or carrying someone on your back I'll keep searching thanks a lot
