I’m a nurse but I work mostly in the urology department so I wasn’t very familiar with gastrointestinal patients and their needs. Finally I understand why you need both the line and the feeding tube(button). I was so confused bc the calories and nutrients should be enough just from the line. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.

I’ve had an NJ tube for a couple months now, and it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through. I’ve had them before, but this time is definitely worse. My body does not like it whatsoever and does all it can to reject it. Watching you talk about it really inspires me and it makes me proud to be the way I am. And it’s a hard thing to get through, but it’s strong people like you that make it easier for us to cope with issues like this. Love you and your videos❤️

Thank you for being so open and explaining everything! And for being so kind and understanding in the comments! I think seeing and hearing a person tell their story makes it more human, and makes you realize it’s a real thing that real people have. Just reading about it online is very clinical, and I feel like people kinda get detached since articles aren’t usually talking about a specific person. It’s just giving symptoms, causes, and statistics. I hope you’re doing well. You’re always so upbeat and positive, it’s kinda contagious.

My little brother has only an 8th of his intestines so he’s had the mini button since he was 3 months old. He just turned 13 and it’s saved his life. About 2 years ago he got a picc line which is the semi permanent version of the Hickman, he gets TPN through that and it’s made him start gaining weight. I love watching your videos like this because I know exactly what you’re talking about :)

I had to have an NG for 2 days back in 2016 (I nearly died from an infection that caused a ruptured ulcer) and it was absolutely AWFUL! I couldn't imagine having it as long as you did. I'm so glad you were able to get a Central Line (your Hickman) and your feeding tube placed. I'm also an RN & have had plenty of patients with the NG placed, and I feel their pain. I'm glad you don't have to do that anymore hun.

Amy, when I first saw the title of this video I was so worried about you and my mind was racing as to why you'd be back on nasal feeding tubes... then I started watching and felt stupid. Lol I love that you are always working so hard to post videos that truly teach people who aren't familiar with these diagnosis's and what all they entail to stay healthy. TPN has done amazing things for you, 20kg is crazy and you look so so beautiful and healthy!!! The first ever video I saw of yours was the "2 tubes??" video and I'm so glad I happened upon that video. You are a bright ray of sunshine in this increasingly negative and hateful world.

I have an auto immune disease called Myasthenia Gravis and one of the man symptoms is it can make swallowing very difficult. I've had countless intestinal blockages following a colectomy. This meant that I needed way to many NG tubes that were the largest gauge possible to keep me from persistently vomiting and my intestine from rupturing. It was so miserable, let me tell you. Since I couldn't eat for a total of 2 or 3 months, they had to place me on tpn. I was way to skinny and looked ghostly. Tpn has saved my life and I don't know where I would be without it. Now I'm all healthy and back to a normal life style. Thank you so much for raising awareness towards NG tubes and tpn. This will hopefully reduce the amount of stares and comments one gets with these medical devices that are keeping them alive. Many have no idea about how uncomfortable it is going out in public while getting intravenously fed.

I’ve had a NG tube before and it was probably the most uncomfortable I’ve ever felt in 18 years of life. I have been having some GI trouble recently so I’ve been watching videos like this just to educate myself (I’ll be going back to the doctor soon). But I just wanted to say thank you for all the information! I’m familiar with some of this because of having multiple colonoscopies and endoscopies. Glad to see you’re gaining weight and doing better. Very easy to understand this video even if I didn’t have any prior knowledge.

I work part-time in a home for kids who are severely disabled and five of our nine kids have a feeding tube. One has it because she has Diabetis and it is important for her to have her sugars on a normal level (so if she doesn't want to eat, she'll get the food down her tube) and four kids have it because they don't eat or don't eat enough. All kids have buttons, but I have actually never seen one with a function for draining, like yours. I think it is pretty amazing that these kids get their nutritions even though it is too exausting for them to eat or they can't swallow their food.

I love your content. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis based on symptoms (my GES always normal) I do not have it as bad as you or others. But, I'm unable to consume more that 500 calories a day. Some days are better than others and most of the time the foods/drinks I tolerate are not high in nutrition. Both my GP and Gastroenterologist are highly against me being tube fed and want to work with me just eating. My GP told me to "just eat" yesterday like it was easy battling the nausea and epigastric fullness. You're content helps me feel less alone and is very informative incase I do eventually get to some of these points.

You're like meeee! I was told I had delayed emptying but then later told I didn't but had "functional dyspepsia" but treating that didn't work, I reacted like someone with gastroparesis might. So we treat "as if I've gastroparesis". The only thing that works so far was NJ feeding. But there's huge reluctance to place a surgical tube because of lack of expertise and fears about whether my other conditions could cause problems etc. So I'm left underweight. I can only manage a few hundred kcals too though I can get close to 1000 if I avoid food and reserve my stomach space to fit the drinks. My drinks are low calorie compared to others but they're the only option since all others have dairy which I'm allergic to. That really sucks that they actually said "just eat"!

hey, Amy I just wanted to say how much you inspire me ❤️. since early childhood I experienced EDS symptoms, but I live in Brazil and unfortunately there aren't many doctors here that know about this condition. so, when I turned 16 and things started to get worse, specially the joint pain, the doctors thought I had lupus and treated me for 3 years with a lot of meds, including steroids. the result was that I gained a lot of weight, stretch marks all over my body (literally a zebra lol) and was extremely bloated. I was cyberbullied during those years and my confidence was super down. I started to develop body dysmorphia, OCD and clinical depression. everything changed when I went to a geneticist last year and ended up finding out that I actually have EDS. now I'm being properly treated with medications for my pain (specially on knees and ankles), depression, OCD and doing some physiotherapy so I can gain muscles on my legs and hopefully start feeling less pain and, that the pain becomes more sparse. I'm also taking 60mg of duloxetine and is helping me with the chronic pain (does it make you sleepy? cause after I take my dose I feel the need to take a nap). thank god I never broke or deslocated any part of my body, but I do miss dancing ballet and doing gymnastics. Now I know that I won't be able to dance anymore due to my condition. but I'm determined to enjoy more of my life, find some genre of dance that is appropriate for me and keep fighting. I have some good days, others not so good, but I'll continue to learn and deal with the pain that will be a part of my life until I die. so, thank you so much for showing me that I can be happy and have a ~normal~ life. seeing someone like you gives me hope. xx ❤️❤️❤️

My little guy has epilepsy. He had brain surgery at 3 months and has a G tube. He originially had to switch to a J tube for a while, but he started to tolerate again. Hes now starting to eat orally. Love your videos!

I have Crohns Disease and in 2017 my colon and intestines stop working and I got an ileostomy placed. And when I was in the hospital I got a blockage because my stomach didn’t wake up properly and I had to have a suction tube put in. And before I had my ileostomy I had a NG tube so I can get nutrients because I don’t absorb them properly
