Here's an important golf practice tip to help you make swing changes faster. The concept is to feel it then immediately hit it.
This means you are going to get a feeling of the swing change or movement you're doing in practice swings first. Once you feel it, you immediately hit the shot trying to replicate the feeling you just had.
Too many people take way too long when they're trying to learn a new movement as they practice. In doing so, they lose the feeling of the movement or swing change they're trying to do.
By follow this golf practice tip, and taking way less time before you hit your shot, you'll be able to apply the very same feeling to your shots.
A lot of swing changes are tricky and take focus on that very thing. If you work on too many things or take too long before you hit your shots, you'll have trouble doing the new moves.
So remember this golf practice tip and try it with both irons and driver. If so, you'll finally be able to feel the new moves when you swing.

This is great advice...my mind gets cluttered with your great tips.....i need to focus on one...".feel it then hit it"......to learn it.....whether on the practice range or green or course....focusing on just 1 or 2 keys on swing or putt and then do it would free things up in your mind and body......im am definately guilty of "paralysis by analysis"...then become wooden over the ball when i really need to be loose over the ball....i need this feel it...hit it thought in my pre-shot routine

Paul, once again your tips speak to me. I'm loving learning this swing and it's doing wonders to get my game squared away. One issue is overthinking and you've covered it here. Thank you again!

I've advocated this practice idea for a while now, ever since I realized how much of the swing is "feel" vs. positions. You of course are absolutely right that the longer you wait the more you lose the feeling you get with your practice swing. More specifically, invariably, if you wait too long you will become mesmerized by the ball. You'll focus on it, try to hit "at" it, all the things that make your real swing a very poor imitation of your practice swing will bubble to the top. Even "fear" of the ball, believe it or not, is a factor: I often compare my practice and real swings and see how during the former my handle is ahead of the ball through impact, during the latter I decelerate, chicken-wing and scoop. Sure there are other things I don't do right, but stepping up and hitting immediately will sometimes (say, 40% of the time) make me forget that the ball is even there. Thanks again for the video.

Exactly. Bad thoughts creep in for sure. Big problem is everyone wants to hit every shot good. A lot of this is new and different. Get the moves ... you get the ball. So step up and try it. Then try it again and so on. After a few balls you will get some good ones which tells you that you can do it.

I've watched a thousand hours of golf video's to help improve my game, they helped, but not as much as your video's Paul. Sometimes you just need to find the right instructor that simplifies all the information they're feeding you and then your scores will drop. My first video i saw of yours was the one where you hit for balls you had marked and proceeded to hit each one off the tee and had to carry the water, i believe 278ish? The swing was effortless and you were 300+ on the green. That one video flipped the switch for me, i played at Lake Ridge in Reno and shot my lowest score on a golf course which was 88, i usually shoot 96+. I couldn't hit a bad driver that day, it was like an awakening of some sort. Thanks, Paul.

Thanks so much. I just say it differently. Simple is the key as well as using the body. If whacking at it with the arms was the way to do it wouldn't there be more good golfers out there. Keep at it.

I did this near end of golf season here in Canada. Instantly changed my game. In practice, I'm always hitting well. Because you're hitting shot after shot. Never get out of the grove. Couldn't take that same swing to the course. A couple of practice swings then hit the ball right after worked! Great tip!

Good advice. I've been there, had analysis paralysis, scared of making a mistake, looking silly, etc., freezing up. Game is as mental as physical. Think the best advice is to feel loose while conceptualizing the natural body swing rhythm around and around. Just my personal thinking.

Thanks. Great thought. Loose is always better than tight. There is more to it that than as you need a good grip and setup too. Just coil and hinge then uncoil and rehinge. That is pretty simple.

Guilty! Been there and done that. Crazy how much it's in our heads. I seem to understand it but over the ball it's hard to both let loose and release for many it seems.

You cannot let the ball make you think about hitting it. This is why you need to understand the concept first (I thing you are getting there). You take the arms out. Then you speed it up with the other power source (legs and hips). Make the switch. Plus, watch your ball. If you keep whacking away at it and don't hit it any longer or straighter than why keep doing it?

@@paulwilsongolf Thank you so much Paul. I just got back from the range and I told myself I was gonna trust my swing and release the swing/club and I am getting there. I'm not sure if it was your video but I saw one where they tee up like 5 in a line and hit em all in row without thinking over each shot so I been trying that to help the release. Got a new Cobra speedzone Driver for early Christmas. Nicest club iv'e ever owned!

Easiest way to keep your right knee flexed as you swing. It never straightens so if you are jumping you are straightening the back leg. Keep it flexed and you don't jump.

Thanks a lots for your drill. Currently im doing your drill to "oil," the wrist every day. Im now have issues with losing distance of driver and mìd/ long irons. I can hít 8 or 9 irons with around 140y but get only same distance with 7, 6, 5 irons. My driver is only 180'-200y, can you advise why? Thanks
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 3 жыл бұрын
So keep the oiled wrists then when you are ready start firing your legs and hips for power. Right now you are thinking arms. This is fine as you are working on loosening the wrists but you have to power it with the lower body. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iMqgm9eZqLedhoE.html Check out the other hip drills on the channel too. Get them moving.

Golfers should be given a one stroke penalty for killing the ball each and every time on the course, make it a rule or new way to play for better or worse score:)
