IF the new Disney X-Men movie is a fifth-wave-feminist girlboss propaganda movie, I obviously won’t support it. However, I also don’t support Lauren’s ignorant and lazy mischaracterization of X-Men ‘97 as “woke”. I know that prior to X-Men ‘97’s premiere, all the anti-woke YTers like Lauren were pre-judging X-Men ‘97 as “woke” because it was trending and she wanted the EASY VIEWS. But now the series is 8 episodes into its first season, so Lauren has had plenty of time to WATCH it (or even pirate it) and educate herself. The Morph character’s non-binary gender identity is NOT thrown in the audience’s face; the ONLY reference to it is the end credits. Only SNOWFLAKES would condemn X-Men ‘97 of being “woke” because “they” appears on-screen for a few seconds of the end credits (which everyone skips anyway). Other anti-woke YTers, like ClownfishTV’s Kneon, have actually taken the time to WATCH X-Men ‘97 and know what the F they’re talking about. Kneon acknowledged X-Men ‘97 is pretty good and is mostly faithful to the ‘90s X-Men animated series - and I agree. But Lauren apparently can’t be bothered to know WTF she’s talking about because LAUREN CHEN IS TOO BUSY SCHILLING HER SPONSOR in the middle of her video.

I loved X-Men so much as a child. It was my favorite fandom. It saddens me that I can no longer enjoy its stories, knowing the politics and agendas of the reprehensible people in charge of it.

Put Logan in a coma, got through the helmets of both Juggernaut and Prof X… Absolutely no need to make it female centric. Just keep to the basics. Wait. Do the Psylocke Captain Britain story. 😳

Xmen 97 isnt really woke. I mean they can claim a character is non binary, but that literally has never come up. 8 eps in and Magneto is essentially the protagonist. Theyve literally created an environment where Xabmvier is wrong and Magneto is almost right. Quite frankly his global empbis debatably just. I hope they explore the ramifications of a global emp, why it occured, and why Xavier wanting coexistence wasnt possible.

I didn't think "X-Men '97" was woke. Instead it took inspiration from Chris Clairmont's comics and E is for Extinction X-Men comic. The only thing that was woke about the show was how the fact Morph was trans. It still featured the love triangle between Wolverine, Jean Grey and Cyclops along with a love triangle between Rogue, Magneto and Gambit.

They should do a Rogue movie with Sydney Sweeney taking Captain Marvels powers and killing off the Captain Marvel character. I'm sure Bree Larsen wouldn't mind.

I think they genuinely think it's clever, creative, and morally praiseworthy. It's as simple as that. They actually think it's smart, original, and necessary.

The irony is that female X-Men characters have ALWAYS been the best characters in the franchise (Storm, Rogue, Jean, Psylocke, Shadowcat, among many others), but with 2024 Marvel, no one will have any faith in them being done any more justice than the worse of the Fox movies 🥲🤣

I would have to disagree with something you said. You ABSOLUTELY can make a lesser known character popular. Just make a good movie. Look at Iron Man. He was never a super popular character. Heck, thanks to Civil War 1 people kinda hated him. The MCU made him popular. Fun fact they had the rights to make an iron man movie for years and never did, because they didn't think anyone would like him. Even Captain America had always been a B lister in the past. That was the point of the Avengers. Bring together a bunch of your characters so that they can together be more popular than they were alone. Which is why someone like Spider-Man was only made an Avenger relatively recently. Since thanks to the MCU the Avengers are now A-listers. In fact She-Hulk is actually one of the most popular female Marvel characters. Or she was.....until they decided to make her a Girl Boss. The older She-Hulk comics were awesome. Fun fact she was the first character to do 4th wall breaks. Which Deadpool later copied. So these ARE interesting characters. They are just being horribly represented. She Hulk isn't like that. Madame Webb certainly isn't like that. She is supposed to be the mystical elder in someone else's comic. Who decided to try and change her into some sorta action star. They completely changed Khamala Khan. Powers, Origin, everything. And the new Mutants.......It is so sad that we finally got Magik on the big screen and they butchered her. So yeah, given competent writers who actually care about the characters. These characters work well.

What could work for Captain Marvel, would be to have Rogue drain her (like in previous stories). The have Brie Larson continue as a ghost in Rogue’s head. You don’t have to fire her, but you can do away with her as a character. This would give them the chance to give Rogue and Carol Danvers the chance to have struggles and character depth, and stay true to established lore.

I heard the idea that companies do this bc the big wigs that give them the money to make these projects tell them to. Specifically in the gaming industry but perhaps the same goes for tv & film. But we also know they aren’t hiring based on talent.

We have NEVER seen the Rogue from the comics, just some character using her name. But if we get actual Rogue, there is a good chance we will get the lesbian love story of her two evil (misunderstood) moms...Destiny and Mystique. Destiny would be the new character to live-action.

The x-men 97 animated series is actually really good despite the non-binary character, it doesn't centre around identity politics. The storytelling is really good, in fact I've read a couple of online comments complaining about the straight -only romances portrayed in the show lol.

You can do successful female-centric shows / movies. Xena is a great example of that. Just don't make them insufferable "girl bosses". Make them good and likeable characters!

X-men 97 isn't really all that woke at the moment. The guy who worked on it strictly wanted the show to be how it was in the 90's with no mention of that stuff. However he got fired so that will probably change.

There are PLENTY of legitimate criticisms to make of the current state of Marvel, but if you're calling the X-men 97 series "woke" then you're either not watching it, or just pandering. People keep talking about Morph when he's probably said the least words of anyone in the show. Add to that, if anyone were to be "non-binary" a guy that can shapeshift would make perfect sense to not see or experience gender in the same way as a normal human. But this hasn't even been talked about in the show, and yet, still people complain about it. Hopefully Marvel has learned their lesson for the MCU. I don't put much stock into these articles/reporting, especially since Marvel is known for misdirecting and its secrecy.

Yeah, Mr. Sinister. That villain that showed up 24 years after the X-Men became a team, he's the guy they should start with. "Cart before the horse" writing, that is another HUGE problem with Disney Marvel. 50 years of storytelling, and they want to start in the middle or the end (or the most annoying thing a superhero writer can do...retcon the whole thing, destroying canon). But I guess they have to if they want to be female-centric. Since the first 12 years of X-Men only had two females, Jean and Lorna (and Lorna was basically just a reserve member). And, the next decade only added 3 more...Ororo, Kitty, and Anna. That's 5 females, for the half of the X-Men's existence. For reference, there were 14 males during the same time period. Now, I will not mind if the focus is on these original X-woMen (they can be good characters), as long as the male members are not excluded and done dirty.

Tbh I heard similar “rumors” about X-Men 97 and screw me to tears was that first season amazing. The fact they have Wolverine and Deadpool ushering in the mutants as well as shows like she hulk getting canceled seems to dispel of these rumors

X-Men 97 has been wildly successful, because it nails the characters and the best iteration of the team....so, the live action MCU activists will ignore its success and adapt gIrL bOsSeS. Just kick me in the balls already.

This movie could learn a thing or two from X-Men 97. You should check it out since it ended up being not woke at all, and pretty badass. Morph as non-binary is never brought up. (Just a "they"pronoun in the credits. Hardly worth freaking out over.) Dude is basically used as a cameo machine for each fight. Morph sucked in the og series, but now is used as a utility player who gives the show a chance to feature everyone from Quicksilver to Spiral, at the snap of a finger.

You cant be drama and comedy at the same time, one inflence genre go against the others. You cant have a death challenge story, and clack a joke at the resolution. Its schizophrenic writing. It leads to no emotional engagement from the viewer. Its basic stuff they dont seem to know at Disney.

The comedy started with Guardians of the Galaxy, I believe, and I remember loving it so much, lol. Like these guys were hilarious and I couldn't wait to see more of them. But I thought that was just gonna be THEIR own thing, and it wasn't. The humor started getting implemented in everything after, and while some of it is welcomed, there's nothing ever taken seriously anymore. I remember first feeling this way in Thor 3 when Bruce practically fell to his death infront of the wolf. 🤣 I mean, sure, it's hilarious, but... when does anyone get their moment anymore?

That X-Men 97 series has a 9.0 on IMDB. Is always trending on twitter, fans love it. Even grift...er....other youtube channels who hate Disney have acknowledged its great. If you havent watched X-Men 97 then why comment like its a failure when its clearly not the case?

Just when X men was finally getting good with 97 they try to ruin the franchise with this. Have they learned nothing from The Marvel's? I'm not against putting more focus and respect on the female X men characters. Storm, Rouge and Jean definitely deserve it after how the movies did them so dirty. But don't make it female centric because the whole point of X men is to represent all groups. Men and Women of all colours, nationalities and faiths and girlboss movies right now are box office poison. You could maybe have a few spin off movies for some of the female characters like Storm, Emma Frost, X-23 and Psylocke.

This is perfectly fine. When Deadpool and Wolverine blows out the theaters and this fails miserably, we will see the failure that is the current MCU. I am looking forward to it really.

Only positive news out of this story was hearing Ryan Reynolds telling Disney to scrap Brie Larson's Captain Marvel cameo in the new Deadpool movie. Besides him race swapping Domino to be a mixed race woman with Vitaligo around her eye, he's seemed to have handled the Deadpool franchise a lot better than most of the main current Disney MCU movies.
