Genki, a female gorilla, spotted Momotaro, a silverback gorilla, approaching and turned her butt toward him. I do not know if she is asking him to mate with her or if she is trying to communicate with him.
However, Momotaro went through her.
It will be a long way until the next baby is born.
This Video was taken at kyoto city zoo June 2022.

I love it when Genki stalks Momo. She is not shy about letting him know what she wants. Remember she chose him as a mate initially after watching videos of him. Ironically his dad Bijou was Genki's first silverback. Also, Genki taught Momo how to mate and what she likes. Momo acts hard to get, but genki is his queen, make jo mistake about it. He always gives in. Genki is a beast!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😍😍😍😍😍😍

I do feel sorry for Momo and them. But it is easier said than done raising a proper harem in captivity. I dont know what type of regulations or problems Japan may have getting new gorillas in. But Momo would usually have a harem at his age since he is in his prime. Instead all he has is Genki who is awesome, but also very old for a female gorilla. She is 14-15 years older than Momo.

I always wonder if they could put a four or five month habituated AussieDoodle ( or some Doodle mix) in there for them and see if they’d all perk up? It wouldn’t have to stay all day.

This Momotaro family, I would recognise Kintaro's cute little butt anywhere. I love these guys ❤ I wish their enclosure was bigger. Well, if I'm honest, I wish they weren't even in captivity, but seeing as they are, I wish they had triple the space they have, including their indoor enclosure

Ikr, I've seen other gorilla families on YT and I'd have to say Momotaro hands down is the most handsome and his sons Gentaro and Kintaro are definitely following in his footsteps they are both very handsome too.

@@champagnes5898 in this case they are trying to breed an animal. Beyond that what goes on between 2 adults is none of my business. We are not Sparta and in danger of extinction. We could do with a few less people living like rats in huge complexes in place line China and Japan. In other places the population live like poor rats in hovels.

The man walking ahead of us heard me and turned around. He must have been heterosexual because he was not attractive

Think how strong their fingers are. How much weight on the fingers when they walk. They don't even bother to use fists to make it easier a lot of the time. Sometimes it's even like 2 fingers out of 5 that support them.

Is this habitat the biggest they haver to roam around in? It is awful small/1 In the wild they run and swing and would not have to worry about running into walls or structures

なぜか、ゲンキとモモタロウはソワソワしているようにも見えました。その雰囲気に、キンタロウがチラ見ばかりしていました。面白いですね。途中、モモタロウが座りながら首をかしげるような動作をしたように見えました。

I feel bad for Momo he seems lonely. Genki is a good mother but too much so. Kintaro is a mama’s boy due to her over protection. All 4 of them need larger surroundings with more freedom of movement .

Mama being so overprotective is the reason I think it has been so difficult for Gentaro to deal with the loss of his mother’s affection. If they have another baby it’ll be very difficult for little Kintaro.

Truly...that is NOT enough space for all those animals. I am sure they feel overly restricted. And then they wonder why animals go super aggressive at times. Zoos should be to protect animals in an environment. Not to focus on humans that can't see the animals in their environment.

Genki she is a really good mommy for sure, but for a wife she doesn't. Alright she taken care Momotarou really great and she's a good teacher when he was young, but nowaday if she needn't to mate she will walks away from him, when he wants to sit around her or he wants to mate but she didn't she will gone and lets him alone. I really feel bad for Momotarou, Genki will comes to him just when she feels danger or wants to mate. Without that time she doesn't care, just eating and nursing her sons. 😔

Did I miss something? I saw the different gorillas walking around by themselves. I didn't see any trying to get friendly with another in a manner to want to mate. I wasted my time watching. I was curious to see courtship behavior of gorillas because I am not familiar with such.

Когда в семье каждый из родителей сам по себе... Генки как мать потрясающая,но как жена вообще никакая. Как и муж из Момотаро. У них обоих депрессия похоже. Генки заедает одиночество,а Момотаро почти не двигается,сидит как статуя постоянно,с детьми не играет,полная апатия. Но я их всех всё равно люблю

That was a little to subtle for me. They look pretty bored. Not much to do in their enclosure. The little guy seems to want attention from his mom who pretty much ignores him. Sad.

I wish human relations was this simple at times ,no head games,no hangups, just the females letting you know it's time to mate , I want a baby to strengthen my family and keep my dna going on for another generation...lol...life really is quite complicated when you have a chance to analyze the meaning,you'll drive yourself insane if you think to heavily about it all..,

ОН не хочет именно ее, посмотрели бы мы, как повел бы себя ОН, если бы здесь, вдруг появилась одна из дочек Шабани, молодая, стройная самочка, с маленьким животиком, с высокой спинкой, а не эта, вечно жующая, неопрятная Генки. У горилл с людьми большое сходство в генах, а они определяют все, и наши пристрастия в том числе. Как у людей старая жена надоедает мужу, так и у животных. I think Momotaro is not well. Around 8.00 he shook his head, as if he is in pain. Poor poor Kintaro! He longs so awful for some entertaining! But everybody refuse to play with him. He is so very much disappointed and sad.

For me Genki is not all that great. She treats Gentaro like crap, fawns all over Kintaro and ignores Momo until SHE wants it. Genki should be put somewhere with Kintaro and bring a few females in for Momo.

You would think male gorillas would love to have sex with the female gorillas more often than none at all. I think male or female gorillas are just so stupid at times and don't get the I want to have sex with you hints.
