APR 29, 2024: Feral mama Berkeley gave birth to four beautiful kittens! Mom and babies are doing great so far - yay! Scroll down for weight chart.
APR 21 2024: Feral mama-to-be Berkeley has eluded us for more than a year! We were FINALLY able to trap her using our remote-triggering robo-trap. She's pregnant, and will give birth for the last time in our care. Because she is feral, we will take a very specific approach to her pregnancy, labor, and raising her final litter of kittens in order to minimize her stress and maximize her + kittens well-being. There are comments on here that show they know nothing about TKs, TNR and their work with the Feral cats. I would suggest people educate themselves about this before leaving comments which are not helpful or informed. TKs are doing a fantastic job and are educating many in the process.

Yes, this is still a win no matter what happens in the end. If Berkeley does end up going back to the wild, she still will have had her last litter in comfort and safety, and these kittens will grow up in safe homes and not contributing to the feral population.

She's reminding me of Mora. She seems to not really be afraid of Shelly for herself, but wants to protect her kittens. Mora got so she wouldn't go quiet when she was toweled and would pop her head out from under the towel as soon as Shelly took her hands out of the COS and Berkley has already started doing that after only 24 hours.

Makes me wonder if my two 9 month old twin girls who were born on a farm came from a feral mum. They have never had a loud voice or squealed when I weighed them after getting them

I was watching this video on the living room tv and my cat began to casually wander in to join me until he heard the growlies and hisses. He froze and nervously looked around then carefully backed away lest he get eaten. LOL I muted the video and tried to reassure him he wasn't going to get attacked. Berkeley is such a good mama!

A heartfelt thanks for all the blood, sweat and tears that goes into TK and it’s vital work. Berkeley is a beautiful cat and I hope she eventually turns in her wild card. The kittens are beautiful, a robust little bunch! Looking forward to seeing all 9 new kittens in a month or so, scampering wildly everywhere and wreaking havoc!

I don't know if she's scared, so much as she's furious that a human would invade her personal space. As Shelley said, she is confident and stands her ground, which is a good sign. A frightened cat will often just close down when approached, with unpredictable results. At least we know B's intentions!

Such a wonderful picture. It truly shows how gorgeously stunning Mama Berkeley is. So many new things for her too. Then adding in all the hormones and instincts, it is no wonder she is spicy. Plus she was quite elusive. Fortunately Miss Shelly is very experienced. I also think Mama B is enjoying her door dash instead of having to hunt. Time will tell what Berkeley wants.

I had a former feral who never gave up the ferocious growl while eating or when we had friends over…he loved ME, accept my husband and found my son who is very tall and big interesting from a distance.

She was born feral in the brambles cat colony, several of the cats have a pointed gene, a calico from the colony birthed a perfect seal point at TK . Her sister Bellflower has a similar look. If there was a lost Meezer it was several generations back.

I think a lot of cats carry genes for pointed coats; we had a pair of rescue siblings, a black and a grey, and their kits were the same except for one 'homemade' blue point. (No, we never planned on kittens, but that was back in the sixties when vets insisted on waiting 'til they hit six months to spay/neuter. Bingo, too late. I'm so glad that's changed.)

it's amazing how dark it is in that room and how bright the special cameras make it seem. Shelly did a demo video on it, you can search the channel for the word "light" and find it.
