You can ferment kohlrabi just like pickles, stir fry, you can hollow them out and stuff them like bell peppers, you can boil them and mash them like mashed potatoes, boil, steam, roasted. I hope that helps 🙂💐

Hello Carrie and Esther Pie. What wonderful year you’re having with your produce this year. I love the way every one does such great work around the homestead. Esther, you are a blessing! I looked for ways to preserve Kohlrabi, alas, to no great avail. The most common method I found was blanching and freezing. However, I am aware of your limited freezer space. I also noticed that Kohlrabi can be pickled. Esther, maybe you can research that on line. It sounds like it has potential for long time storage. As usual, thank you for a beautiful summer’s video. Sending love and blessings ❤

How do you store kohlrabi for winter? Remove the leaves and stems and place the kohlrabi in sealed perforated plastic bags. Store between 32-40 degrees (F). Kohlrabi likes it cold and needs the crisper for humid (85-90%) storage. Don't throw away the leaves, you can eat them as well.

I have been watching your videos for years and love them all. I was watching one of your homeschool videos to get an idea for storage for books, flashcards, and manipulitives. We also live in a tiny house and homeschool our 5 youngest kids. Do you have a link to share where you were able to get your bookshelf with the drawers that you keep your homeschooling supplies in? Thank you!!

Thank you so much for watching our videos.🙂 I don't have a link for the bookshelf. We had a friend make it for us to fit the space. Little by little, we are replacing our open shelving with cabinets and drawers to help make the space feel less cluttered. I hope you find some good ways to store your homeschool items in your tiny house. Blessings to you.❤

Most of the time we just clear any weeds from the bed and plant the next crop. If we have extra compost, sometimes we add that. And we fertilize the young plants that come up with homemade comfrey tea liquid fertilizer.🙂

Curing would never happen in my garden. We have way too much wildlife. In fact, my garden has been under attack since I put the seedlings out. I had to seal them up in the greenhouse until they got big enough, and as soon as I moved them onto container garden, and the actual garden, things started getting eaten, or dug up. The squirrels dig up every single plant and put a peanut in the hole. (My neighbor is a bleeding heart for animals and she feeds them.) I take the peanut out, and replant every plant. (Some don't survive.) My daughter planted a whole bunch of beautiful flowers, and they are all destroyed. We go back and forth at least 4 times til they finally leave them. I have tried using chicken wire, and mesh. I have also bought fox pee and sprayed the garden. I have lined the whole garden with marigolds, and the squirrels dug them all up. They don't care. I have chipmunks, squirrels, birds, raccoons, deer, groundhogs, raccoons, possums, foxes... The problem is that we used to have a forest and a meadow across the street from us, and the township leveled it, and put a whole bunch of condos and apartments there, and the wildlife spread out everywhere in our neighborhood. It's super sad. I've actually seen deer wandering around on paved streets. Where did they expect the wildlife would go? (We also have ducks and tree frogs that have taken over our pool. They think it's Club Med for ducks. LOL)
@1000sofroots
@1000sofroots 14 күн бұрын
Wow! I can't image your frustration. I would say maybe a dog would help, but you would need a whole pack of dogs to keep all those critters away. Maybe in time some of the wildlife will find new homes beyond your yard. May your story be an inspiration to others to not give up. Blessings to you and your family.❤

@@1000sofroots I'd LOVE to have a dog, but I'm allergic. I really do feel for the critters who have been relocated. It makes me think of a book my mom read to us when I was a kid, The Animals of Farthing Wood. I just wish that they didn't look at my garden as a smorgasbord. LOL The groundhog even brought his brother back with him. My sons named them, "Diggory" and "Dug/ Doug."

How often do your children engage in community? I know you and your family relish spending time together and that is your priority. But will they find spouses and some pleasures, within your beliefs, outside your "compound"?? Your young men are certainly of age to be courting.

We get this comment a lot. We are a homesteading channel, so just because we don't share all aspects of our life doesn't mean we don't have those aspects. Most of the people we fellowship with outside of our family don't want to be on video, so for the most part, we choose to keep that part of our lives private.
