React to "Askjell - To be Loved ft. AURORA (Video Clip)" Askjell is a friend of AURORA, Aurora in this song is the vocalist, only she sings, I believe Askjell made the look of the clip, the production of the song. This song is impeccable, the arrangement and production of this song are amazing!!! please react!!! I love your reactions to AURORA 💕

Thanks for the video, and yay, one of her unreleased songs. A lot of fun going through those. Someone mentioned Exist for Love… way down the road it’d be neat to see your reaction to SKAAR’s Exist for Love cover. Her version is lovely (with some additional SKAAR “oooo” vocalizing).

I read that Aurora listened to Leonard Cohen as a child, and she cites him as one of her key musical influences. So when he passed away, she performed at two or more tribute concerts for him. The other Cohen song she covers (actually its history predates Cohen) is "The Partisan," where she sings in both English and French. The recording is not optimal, but her voice and emotion come through clearly -- I would be overjoyed if at some point in her career she releases an album of Cohen songs (perhaps as part of a collection of covers of songs by iconic artists).

There is the "famous blue raincoat". One of my favorite performances. I almost cry every time I look Aurora in the eyes. It's not so much about the song. The honestly sad look. Every time I want to go on stage and hug her. The song itself is of course fantastic. Do you know "When I need you"? (World hit) If so, the chorus should sound familiar to you. It was stolen for this song. Leonard Cohen sued in court and won. Thank you for reacting to it. Such a wonderfull song. Completely different than usual.

At last!!! A reaction to my favorite Aurora cover. This one is a prime example of her tremendous talent for bringing the audience into the true emotional meaning of the lyrics. This provides the perfect platform for Aurora to paint a tragic picture through song. I love this woman. Her movement and facial expression really do emote what Leonard Cohen was feeling. Thank you and BRAVA Aurora!

You should take a look at (not necessarily a reaction of) her cover of Cohen's So Long Marianne, which she performed in Chicago a few days after his death. It's a cell phone recording so it's not the best but the emotion vibes are crazy.

I stood behind Mariann at the last concert she attended (afaik) that he held in Norway. I didn't realize it was her, until they day after, when I read about her in the paper. She was just there as a regular spectator, she didn't meet him. Such a bizarre feeling to realize i stood next to such a legend.

Just a hint: Cohen was very important for Aurora, his album were the few that was playing in her parents house and she grew up listening to him, learning his emotion in songs, his way to tell story with methaphoric that we can reconize in Aurora way to tell story today. This concert was in honner to Cohen and she was deaply touched to be able to sing their, even if it's not her band or back up singner, probably the reason why we don't get ''Aurora twist'' in it.

Thank you Fern. Famous blue raincoat by Aurora is one of my favourites. The music to the line that goes “Yes. And Jane came by with a lock of your hair …” was later used by Leo Sayer in his “When I need you”. There was a bit of a ding dong about whether it was stolen from Cohen or just a coincidence. The song has an interesting back story which I will leave you to lookup. I love Aurora’s version. I’m not as familiar with encrypted love but I like it!

@@FernStone Ohh mix up! The letter referred to is the basis of “So long Marianne” which Aurora also covers. Do check it out. But this song “Famous Blue Raincoat” is based on a different letter, one that Cohen wrote to a friend who had an affair with his “Jane”. With Jane back home, the letter forgives his friend and thanks him/her for taking care of her, and if He/she ever calls by to see him or Jane they will be welcomed.

A tough song to sing, unless you are AURORA of course. The song needs emotion in every word. I doubt this song will ever be done better by anyone. She has talent on a different level and it's all natural to her. She could have been a brilliant actress and not just the greatest singer/songwriter.

Famous Blue Raincoat was done at a Cohen tribute concert. As you know, this is not Aurora's band, so she was a guest vocalist only. My guess is that the band has made a version they have learned to play. Aurora came and rehearsed with them. They had like 10-15 guest vocalists, so I would imagine there was not much room for changes. If Aurora and her band should make a cover to do just for fun at a consert, I guess there would be more changes. A tribute concert with "hardcore Cohen fans" are maybe not the correct time for that 😀. Fun fact: the song is written in the form of a letter. The dummer are Eivind Kløverød, from Vestfossen in Norway... Same as me! 😎

@@FernStone Short story for you: Marianne was a Norwegian girl that Cohen had a releationship with... When news got to Cohen that Marianne had short time left to live, he wrote her this letter: "Well Marianne it's come to this time when we are really so old and our bodies are falling apart and I think I will follow you very soon. Know that I am so close behind you that if you stretch out your hand, I think you can reach mine. And you know that I've always loved you for your beauty and your wisdom, but I don't need to say anything more about that because you know all about that. But now, I just want to wish you a very good journey. Goodbye old friend. Endless love, see you down the road…" Marianne past 28 july 2016, Cohen 07. november 2016, now they are together again. Aurora got the news that Leonard Cohen had died. 11. november 2016 (4 days after his death) Aurora has a consert at Thalia Hall in Chicago, she changes her consert to pay tribute to her hero. It not a uniq cover, changed, like many other of her covers. This is close to the original.... This is pure sadness, gratefullness and respect. A Norwegian lady singing about Cohens Norwegian love..... Keep a close look at her face... Also after the song ends... So Long Marianne - Leonard Cohen kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n5pzmtyHsrDNdZ8.html

You know, I actually think Aurora uses her movements as a kind of "muscle memory" for lyrics. If you watch different performances of same songs, you can see that what seems like random movements actually repeats themselves. It also explains why, when she does forget lyrics, it is alway while sitting at the piano. But never standing on a stage. Or maybe it is just a matter of her forgetting to reherse :D
@FernStone3 жыл бұрын
That’s really interesting , also it makes a lot of sense !! Lots of people do remember lyrics through movement .
@TomTomson813 жыл бұрын
I can not imagine that. I think that's impossible. There is simply no time in a song for that. You are of course right that body language is used to remember, but that takes time. She just doesn't have that in songs. The brain can't process it that quickly. The fact that Aurora forgets her lyrics to songs we know is because she is out of practice, busy with new songs and not practicing the old songs. In addition, she just prays down "Runaway" because it made it around the world after 6 years and the media don't want to hear anything else at the moment. Which is a shame. I would be looking for something forgetful in my head. That's all. This is also due to Corona and the lack of regular appearances. She sat at the piano umpteen times before Corona and forgot nothing. 😉
@Accolonian3 жыл бұрын
@@TomTomson81 I don't know why you think it is impossible? I am not saying that she forgets lyrics through the song and then decides to use movements to remember. I am saying that she doesn't forget in the first place, because memory works better when you tie it to other experiences like movement or visualisation. So I am fairly confident that this helps her, whether it is on purpose or not. The fact that she forgets lyrics also is just a reference to the fact that she hasn't made it through any of her livestreams without some hiccup. It never fails. But no, I don't really think that is because she isn't moving. Its because she forgets to rehearse when she is home alone before a stream or because a stream doesn't really feel like you are "on". Or maybe it's just harder to play piano and sing at the same time.
@FernStone3 жыл бұрын
It’s certainly not impossible . Lots of people use movement to remember lyrics . Kinesthetic learners : someone who retains information and learns how to do something through movement / action . Doing the thing they are learning . So yeah movement may help someone learn lyrics and remember them . Not saying that specifically about Aurora though . I’m terrible at learning lyrics haha but movement does help me a lot . Especially when you use an actual action that represents the word . But Aurora doesn’t do actual dance sequences , more just goes with the flow of the music and story tells through her body language . She emotes . People forget lyrics for many reasons , I’ve done it on stage and had to do a random da da da da and hope no one noticed many times 😂😂
@TomTomson813 жыл бұрын
So mainly I said that I just can't imagine it and therefore think it's impossible. Of course, that doesn't mean it's really impossible. I am happy to be instructed. In addition, I can admit that I made a mistake in reasoning. A misunderstanding on my part that lies in the fact that she uses body movements to remember things that she have been forgotten. But I should have remembered that she uses body movements so that it doesn't get to that point in the first place. I hope you understand what I mean. So it is impossible UNNOTICE and quickly in the song to remember forgotten lyrics through body movement. But the body language is used not to forget it in the first place. English is not my main language. Not always that easy. Forgiveness please. 😁
