About Josh Turner Guitar
Josh began making KZfaq videos in 2007. Ranging from popular to esoteric, local to far flung, and playful to serious, Josh’s videos offer a little something for everyone. Josh also performs regularly with long-time collaborator, Carson McKee, as the folk duo The Other Favorites. Josh’s first full-length solo album, As Good A Place As Any, was released in April 2019.
Equipment/Techniqes:
Guitar is MIM Telecaster with Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups, neck position.
Amp is a Fender Acoustasonic Jr., recorded by an sE8 pencil condenser pointed at the tweeter about 5 inches away.
Vocal mic is a Vanguard V13, "two clicks towards omni."
Preamps are an ART Pro MPA II, interface is a Zoom UAC-8.
Edited in Pro Tools - Klanghelm MJUC, Valhalla Plate, Waves J37.
Filmed on a Canon EOS 200D with a 24mm f/2.8 in Technicolor Cinestyle. Edited in Premiere.

Fever and Crazy are both almost impossible to cover since we hear Peggy and Patsy's voices in the back of our minds. But this young lady has pulled off both. Only comparable I can think of offhand is Eva Cassidy's version of Over the Rainbow

This was indeed perfect. I will share with you another group that seems to always be perfect, at least the recordings that get to youtube: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fNCfaph0q7DOd2g.html (The youngest member of the band was 6, the oldest 19 at that time. The same band, or parts of it, about 10 years later. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gruqZ7di0c-qd6s.html The best recording of this one was by Ella Fitzgerald, perhaps till this.

@Peter Ponomarenko i doubt she's lip synching in this one. you can hear her voice on the mic at the beginning and at the end of the take, as well as her voice fading when she gets further from the mic. also, this is josh turner's channel, where every video i've seen has been a live recording. microphone quality and post processing these days are really good, so i understand why it seems like it must've been recorded in a studio.

@Peter Ponomarenko yep, it's possible the video is slightly off. with productions like this the sound and video usually has to be manually aligned by the video editor, so that's likely the margin of human error you're noticing.

That was unexpected: Ms Young's outfit reminds me of a doll, but she has a perfectly smooth, adult voice with nice dark undertones. A very accomplished singer indeed. And the guitar was perfect.

Both the guitar and vocals were excellent. I noticed the little miscues, and such, along the way, but that actually loved this even more. This was the first video I ever saw of Allison or Josh performing. It completely blew me away. Since then I've seen all of their KZfaq performances - most, more than once. The ones I like best are their duets, together. These two not only have incredible skills but a passion for their music which is rarely seen by other performers.

This is a REAL woman. She knows her source of power among the fairer sex. I love when ladies exhibit their best in their role as women. They are adorable and very talented in whatever they persue in that role. I love the popular music from the 20s through 70s, including the evolution of Jazz in the black community, and how it bled over into the white community in New Orleans and later Chicago. So thankful I stumbled upon this recording. Thanks you guys for giving something beautiful to this old codger.

I will never forget the night I heard my daughter sing this song she killed it 16 years old high school talent show just her and a stand up bass. I had no idea she was going to sing a Peggy Lee song ... now what I can say about the guitar work ... you put you're own twist on the song without loosing the flavor. I studied jazz for 17 years, Allison the quality of your voice unbelievable, its beautiful. I truly enjoyed the arrangement, I was 3 when Peggy Lee recorded this, what you did was not well done it was outstanding

Wow Allison that was fantastic. When I was a kid in the 60’s. I remember Peggy Lee sang that song on every variety show and talk show on TV. And you covered it as she sang it. It’s heart warming to see and hear younger folks playing older music 🎼 and playing it so well. Thanks.

Great voice. I've only heard Allison doing Crazy with Josh before. More of the same please! Such clever arrangement by Josh, simple and tricky touches and execution. Magnificent key changes.
