I'm turning the Feywild into a playable realm for our Dungeons and Dragons campaign, focusing in this video on three of Shakespeare's tragedies. If you need inspiration for some court dramas, you're in the right place.
Thank you as always, and comment below any Feywild or D&D topics you want to see me cover!

Your videos have been hugely inspirational for my group's journey into the Feywild. I love the idea of the play from Hamlet being used to either allude to something that is about to happen or something that has already happened. I am definitely going to use that.

Great video, and some interesting ideas. Your ideas have given me an idea of combining some of the elements of Macbeth and Hamlet: The characters enter a city and catch part of a play by some street performers, which depicts a king being killed by a group of people that look like the characters. At this point some of the city guard arrive to shut down the performance, and will seek to arrest the characters due to their resemblance to the murderers depicted in the play. The street performers should have disappeared so that the characters cannot question them about the performance. The characters are offered shelter from the city guard by a shopkeeper / innkeeper who will tell them that the current king was a high ranking noble who took the throne following the suspicious death of the previous king and another high ranking noble, and that the performance seemed to show these events, along with a prophecy by some witches that the first noble would be a king who would be followed as king by the son of the second noble. The shopkeeper / innkeeper helps the characters escape the city and points them towards someone who can help them. This turns out to be the son of the dead noble who is seeking vengeance on the current king for his father's death, who will ask the characters to help him overthrow the king. The son's army should consist of woodland fey, thus the whole forest marching to defeat the king. After killing the king, the characters see some of the street performers, reminding them of the play, with any perceptive characters then seeing through the illusion to reveal that the performers were the witches, who will disappear before the characters can question them.

This is so good! It also sets up a second part where they can search for the witches/hags to put a stop to their antics. Love it!

A great movie for court drama is the Court Jester starring Danny Kaye. You have several factions in play, you have multiple plots tripping over each other, and you get to watch a great movie to get the inspiration. At the time of this comment, the movie is available on KZfaq for free(with ads).

My idea would be to do Hamlet but since it's the Feywild, you could do it with talking animals. They could even sing songs. 😏 Another idea is because I misheard you. I thought the PCs would watch a play where one of *them* was murdered! That's a cool mystery!

Love the talking animal idea, and love the PC idea even more! That could create some mystery, dread, humor, or all of the above depending on how it's done.

Love the idea of skeletons discussing the meaning of life, it's brilliant! 😂 The party discovers a small abandoned graveyard and hears someone talking. They come closer to investigate and find a few skeletons having a philosophical conversation. The skeletons notice the players and begin to ask them about life, as they have no memory themselves. They don't even remember their names. Later on, MUCH later, in a random tavern the players find a jolly and drunk necromancer who tells them how one day he managed give some bones a semblance of sentience, but the spell wasn't performing well so he just left them there and moved on. 🤣

I love that ending explanation! And the image of a necromancer happily sharing his disturbing experiments at a local tavern 😂

The storm scene from King Lear is such a good choice for the feywild because it's could be a storm of emotions that the party encounters. A light drizzle at first that slowly ramps up hidden emotions and truths and as the shower ramps into a wet storm, the wind and thunder bring unleashed madness and yelling that it reveals the conflicts within the party.

This is so good! Even if the party isn’t in conflict (but let’s be honest, there’s probably some), a storm could be a reflection of a powerful being’s torment, like Lear. The encounter is basically literary analysis 😂
