Great how to video. Always a worry getting scuttle panels off without damaging the windscreen on modern cars. Handy to know about the refitting with those clips being put back correctly.

Took my scuttle off this morning following your guidance. I clean out the rubber channels that were completely blocked with detritus. A really satisfying job. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

I clean it out with an electric leaf blower, from the openings on each side. Might need to remove/replace to paint it eventually. California 500e, best car so far.

I'm a bit late to this video but I guess you search for things in life when you need to! Many thanks for this. Strange question, I'm attempting to change the head gasket on a 2014 Ford Ka which has the same engine as the 500. In the Haynes manual, it says to remove the front scuttle panel to remove the intake manifold but I was wondering if it really needed to be removed? Gaz.

It might be different on the Ka but I didn’t when I did that on the 500. I did however have to remove the side engine mount and tilt the engine forward to clear the bulkhead.

You just remove the two 10mm bolts when you open the hatch and it’ll pull out. Flip off the electrical connection. Job done.

Hi Paul , can you remember where you bought the plastic skuttle panel rivets the 4mm ones thanks i have looked on line but they are 5,6,7, and 8 mm ,thanks

I think it was eBay. I’ve actually bought a box load of different sized ones from AliExpress a while ago but haven’t tried them yet.

Please give some tips about taking on and off the small panels that are on the scuttle panel. My clip broke and is stuck inside. Thank you!

Pull the broken but out with a pair of pliers. I often superglue them back on if I don’t have any new ones. Won’t last forever but unless you’re going to keep taking them off it’ll hold in place. You can buy new ones for about £8 each. To get them off you just need to prise them with a fiat bladed screwdriver or plastic trim tool rather than just yanking them.

@@Love500 Thank you so much for your response. Tried both ways you mentioned and tried carefully to lift it and or jiggle it out. It broke! So on the side where the clip use to be I used 3M indoor outdoor transparent tape, seems to be really sturdy... 🤞. Thanks again and I enjoy your videos!

Loosen the bolt and twist it round a bit. Normally the drivers side one. Its minuscule amount but enough to catch. Quite common in these. If it physically won’t move on the spline, just put a bit of pressure on it to pull it. It’ll be enough.

Hello there! I took my scuttle off to reconnect my rear washer hose. It seems there is no tension on those white clips that holds the scuttle down if they are not clipped under the window. How does it break the windshield? I initially left the scuttle somewhat lose, but today I went and snapped it into place, tilted it downward, pushed it as far as it went, and sure enough, no gaps all the way across. Is it from banging it? I have a USA market 2017 500 Abarth. Left hand drive.

If you don’t get the clips under the metal they will go above the metal but under the glass. Because there’s a gap you’ll probably bang it thinking it will flatten it. Once you do that the glass is damaged right at the bottom and will creep up. Even f you don’t bang it the vibration will probably crack it.

@@Love500 got it! I have verified all 5 clips are under the white metal bit. However I did have to bend the scuttle up a bit to see if the middle of the 5 clips were engaged, I couldn’t get a better visual. When I did this, the 2 on your passenger side and the very middle one were engaged. Is there any danger to the windshield here?

@@Love500 it also seems my clips have no tension if they are just under the glass, there’s a clear gap. Nevertheless, I have confirmed all 5 are now on the white metal. Thank you for your video!

Windshield wiper covers taps are too wide for the hole and broke easily. I have narrowed the taps a litlle on mine and now the covers does not get broken everytime when you try to get them off.

Brittle cheap plastic. I’ve replaced soooo many of them.

They are too tigh in to the hole in beginning. Can easily broke even when new without grinding those taps narrower.

Hi, My Fiat 500 S doesn't have the rubber seal running across the panel - do you know the part number? Does it come as part of the scuttle panel? I can't for the life of me find one anywhere! Thanks in advance.

Took my daughters panel off found windscreen was cracked. So it’s cost me 100 quid for new windscreen. Worst car I have ever bought never ever will I buy a fiat again

Hi those little clips can be bought separately and the OE number is 71752832 and are about £4 even from stealers .the white type that usually break not the little black ones 👍
