For this of you who misunderstood, the dog is actually "scaring" the robot. The bot has safety sensors that stop the system if it detects motion in front or to the side. This is why it looks like they are putting the robot in and out of "fast" mode or whatever they call it. The dog keeps tripping the safety systems.

The dog knows it is a terminator, that's why he is barking.

The dog's stance with both front legs forward and the head slightly lowered indicates he wants to play with the bot. If he was really suggesting it, he would keep his front legs stiff and straight and lower his shoulders, kinda making himself into a ramp, or bowing toward it. The operator makes the move as close as the bot can for just a fraction of a second when he kind of dances it. But since the jointing of the bot doesn't allow the "invite to play" stance, the actual gesture can't really be done correctly. (Google it)

I'm seriously impressed by the way the robot walks.

The leg movements in forward locomotion have improved drastically from the times of the first big dog. If it goes on like this movements will start to be animal like in less than a decade.

The dog constantly keeps the people in it's sight-line. It is in "protect" mode. It certainly has guessed which side is the front end. When it's not looking directly at the people, it's trying to lead the threat away from the people (chase me). It's wondering why the people aren't freaking out too. "Run you idiots, I'll hold him off." Tails not wagging. Dog's not playing.

In the sense of robot, there are some sensor to transfrom order action such as temperature from object, pictures of objective agressive or inagressive and fast moving of objective. Those are factors.

In Terminator they used dogs to find Terminator robots... seems it works with robot dogs, too. You can't fool our canine friend.

that's not an agression bark, it's a warning bark. The dog wants to alert everybody in the area to this thing. Some part of the dog's instinctive nature tells it that the ribots could be seriously bad news

When you see this dog dreaming you'll know what he's dreaming about. Poor dog will be scarred forever.

These things could be used for film production one day, and rather than just using cgi we could go back to old school props and costumes made with real materials. You could overlay a design of a giant wolf on this robot and give it an animatronics head and it would be a real wolf from spirited away.

There is no attempt at interaction with the robot. Watch any of the videos here showing friendly interaction between dogs and other species: horses, deer, chicks, goats, ducks, birds, and others. There are dozens and dozens of them. The behavior of the dogs is nothing like this. This is more like the reaction to a rat!

8 years later, now robot barks and chases cats.

Toy trucks catch the attention of real dogs. Hell, you can toss a rolled up towel at a dog and catch its attention. The fact it's remote controlled even makes this less interesting. The robot wasn't reacting to the dog, the guy with the control was doing it.
