I love this entire movie from beginning to end. As many times as I have seen this film, the ending always gets me everytime. :)))
However, this clip is my favorite scene in the entire film.
My best friend Julie and I love to reenact scenes from our favorite films. This scene is definitely one of them.
David (another very close friend of ours who also helps us with this channel), reenacts movies with us as well. This scene in "Field of Dreams", David or Julie normally do James Earl Jones' part, and I normally do Kevin Costner's part. We tried switching roles, but when it comes to acting (professional or just for fun), there are parts that just naturally fit actors better than others. :)))
Whether you've seen this film or not, we still hope you enjoy watching this clip that we put together specially for you; and if you haven't seen the film... "please-watch-it". It is a film that you should see at least once in your lifetime.
From all of us at "Scottjulie27", thank you for watching; and even if the videos are not your normal interest... like Ray Kinsella, please feel free to venture into the unknown and look at the variety this channel has to offer. :)))
Everybody is welcome. :))))
With Love and Respect,
- The "Scottjulie27 team - :)))))

I love that it's later that night that Terry asks him what the awful thing he said was. They could have filmed that as one conversation, with him immediately asking the question. It's good writing that they broke it up. Feels like a natural conversation. Terry had been ruminating on Ray's story.

I always find this to be one of the most moving scenes in film history. The music is beautiful and Ray is grappling with a kind of regret that many people feel in life. Losing a loved one while not on good terms or a relationship that didn't end well with someone and wanting to make it right. But you no longer can. Field of Dreams may be a fantasy film but it speaks to some very real human emotions. It's a true American masterpiece as is James Horner's score.

This scene is so incredibly poignant and beautiful. The hurt of awful words spoken in a moment of anger, words that were never taken back and surely tormented his father every day for the rest of his life. No other film I know has a gentler core.

It's probably a given that James Earl Jones will go down in history as the voice of Darth Vader (or CNN), even though he had a multitude of other roles. But I'll always remember him for THIS role. Just to be a part of something so remarkable. If he had never had another role aside from this, he'd STILL be a legend!

Having done most of my driving in the heavily forested and hilly eastern US at night, one can't see too far, but one time driving on I-71 between Cincinnati and Columbus I could see distant farm lights over the flat cleared open spaces that reminded me of the distant baseball field lights in this scene.

@@colincostello7486 Tell me about it. Personally I prefer listening to soundtracks altogether when it comes to music and most people don't even know what that is. And I know my taste in music is not exactly "conventional" because I don't like mainstream music. So most of the time I just keep it to myself to spare myself the questions and the criticism

@gregthebaritone
@gregthebaritone 3 жыл бұрын
@@davidjorgensen877 The first shot in this video clip, the first five seconds, was filmed from the ditch in the front of the house I grew up in. The film crew had asked permission from my father to film here. Most of the movie was filmed in and around Dubuque County, IA. Some of the shots that are supposed to be Boston are even the city of Dubuque. "Chisholm, MN" in the movie was actually filmed in nearby Galena, IL. This first shot is on a ridge of the Little Maquoketa River Valley in Dubuque County. Just to the east of this location, there is a one room school house. My older brothers and sisters even attended this school. I believe it was in the eighties that someone bought this schoolhouse and built an extension on to it to turn it into a sort of lodge. When the movie was filmed, apparently the DP was housed here, and he wanted to capture a view of this valley in the film. He needed a more panoramic shot, though, and the view here is far more impressive to see in person, and from my experience, is hard to capture in film.. This is part of an atypical landscape of the Midwest known as the Driftless Area. This is an area of NE Iowa, SE MN, SW WI and NW IL that was for whatever reason passed over by the last four glaciation periods. Glaciers tend to flatten the peaks of areas as they progress and then as they recede, the valleys fill in with silt, leaving behind the typically flat Midwest. However in the Driftless Area, you see deep valleys and huge mounds and ridges. It is almost exaggeratedly hilly there. The landscapes of Grant Wood attempt to capture the region, and they actually are not quite as exaggerated as they look.

The piano alone is beautiful in this scene, but it’s the little “whistling” noise in the background that makes it especially haunting. (You can really hear it when the baseball field lights appear). And the sound mixing is so good, when they drive up, that sound fades into the sound of crickets.

His character scared me more than the movie Orca, when I was old enough to watch it??? It’s funny because James Earl Jones is one of my favourite actors ever❤️ There’s something about his voice, it commands your attention. I love him in this movie, i love the part when he gets to go with them, he was like a kid at Christmas 😍 So many great actresses and actors. Will always be one of my favourite movies❤️

Ive always wondered about the line about his dad playing in the 20’s and if Costner is supposed to be his actual age or similar in the film (born 1955), and assuming by in the 20’s he means 1928/1929 and his dad was only 16 when playing, his dad would have been 42 at minimum at his birth. It just seems a bit old to me. There is probably some aspect i missed that fixes that issue i have). Its a fantastic film and im not sure why that line has bothered me.

I played competitive beach volleyball at a fairly high level since 1993 and many times when having a bad day way back then I would say incredibly stupid things like f this game, why do I bother playing etc etc.. now as i approach the age of 50, what I wouldn’t give to have those days back where I chose not to play because of my bad attitude. At least I learned my lesson

This is what happens when you have Master actors in a movie. When James Earl Jones sees the field in the distance, you know he's on a set, but you absolutely believe he is seeing something amazing, impossible, in the distance. Two fellows having a conversation about their lives ... shouldn't be as difficult to capture as it is on screen. These guys make it look effortless
