It's squirrel time. Paul and Johnny are out after the pesky greys ahead of the songbird nesting season. They are shooting out the dreys on woodland in Bedfordshire. Meanwhile, Dartmoor deer manager Tom Davies is taking the pressure off woodland in Devon. We follow him for a day to see what his job entails, including a fallow cull and a speculative walk with a rifle looking for a big red stag. In Slovakia, the antis have taken over the government and are doing nothing as bear attacks on humans increase. Bear expert Tatiana Orosová tells our news editor Ben about the problem. What species of oak are the squirrels girdling? I'm in Canada where greys are native and I've never seen squirrels do damage like that, never known squirrels to do damage to trees, only houses and out buildings. Guessing it may have something to do about the food available to them in your winter vs ours, on top of them usually sleeping most the winter or relying on caches.

Rewilding is a razor edge,one have to be careful so it dont become all that and nothing more than that on the expense of everyone else.

Another really screwed up example is the rewildering of wolfs in Germany. While i am actually pro wolf we have now a higher wolf density per square kilometer than hungary and you start to not only hear about attacks on livestock but more close/threatening encounters with humans almost daily as well. Just like with brown bears in slowakia i suppose a few people have to die first before the general public stops listening to sick antis

@@TheRitchway Same here in Norway/Sweden with the wolf also. Children have been stalked to school by a pack, parents complaimed requested help , school just reduced the situation to say it was not so serious as they claimed. That was in Elverum, hotspot for much of ara activity , one other was the police set up a surveillance on other peoples woodland to take picture of alledged wolf hunters bait place, it was fox bait . Again t was like it did not matter for them when questioned bout it . That was one example, some should have taken notice and rechecked decisions when the socalled tame pack in Kolmgården zoo in Sweden killed one of their female handlers. She had noted on several times their behavior had changed. Question is when a child is attacked what will they do then, cover it up ,use the child peotection service to evacuate the children away from there ala the Blitz during ww2 in London,or turn completely around ? But the wildboar is on the black list ,that they dont want at all over here , its 2 oppossite meanings , one like that ,the other nature pagan Wagneresque music in the background worship.

You brought the wrong squirrel to Britain. You should have brought in big heavy fox squirrels. In the Southern USA they don't bother red squirrels and chase grey squirrels away. If you want great squirrel hunting come to America after fox squirrels. They brought them to the West Coast and they don't bother red squirrels there either.
