What shape of airgun pellets copes best in the wind? What's the best night vision for rabbits and how do you deal with a rogue squirrel in your garden? The new twice-monthly show AirHeads is here to answer these questions for you.
Some pellets look like tear drops, others look like bricks, but what influence does the wind have at range? Roy Lupton gets together with Darren Rogers to build a budget wind tunnel (and we mean budget) to help us find out.
We have our new series Night Air where we test night vision and thermal kit in the field. There's Air Craft, with James Marchington, who is having a bit of trouble with a grey squirrel. And in Air Tech we look at the basic and the not-so-basic new airgun technology with Airgunner and Airgun World's technical editor Phill Price.

The turbulence is vastly affected by the smoothness on the surface of the test object. Dead insects on the wings of a plane or a wind mill make the surface rough, which will seriously decrease its efficiency. The same applies to any object in a wind tunnel.

well done lads great first show. I would be interested to see a proper heavy weight 177 pellet test against a 22 comparison for drop and wind drift and retained energy if you could oblige.

Sir suggest me a hunting pellet in.177 on 860 fps airgun with knocked down power in wich grain? Jsb heades 8.44 best pellet for hunting?

Roy, you didn't consider a co2 rifle in the spring or pcp section. What's your opinion on them? I have an smk xs78, and think its cracking. Great show guys

Great start boys ... Hope you can pay a site visit to nightvisionforum uk.. Not all got the budget for Factory night vision Yukon Pulsar etc. But for less than £200 people are building night vision . That in my humble opinion is OUT Performing the factory stuff. I remember you visiting this subject a fews years ago with a feature on rat shooting, via diy camcorder night vision..(which I really enjoyed). but things have REALLY moved on ..atb

Great effort, good content, great presentation - could be a bit slower at the deeper subjects and have slow let-off (small pause) allowing the info to resonate a bit in the mind. I hope you channel gets many more views it deserves, love your style and characters.

if you r limited in fp. just get lite wt pellets and make the pellets faster like. 11 or less in 22 cal

you should have hollowed out the skirts, as the hollow also has an effect on aerodynamics

Hi - It really depends on what you want to achieve..the slo mo stuff we do is filmed on a casio exilim camera using an orion steady fix mount - But there are some very good iphone mounts out there too. We'll be looking at this in more detail in the coming weeks as it works so well with air rifles. Cheers

In the UK, our native reds die of parapox virus which greys carry. In one area, Anglesey, everyone shooting greys has successfully wiped them out. / Charlie

+Fieldsports Channel Thanks for the quick answer.Even while my message halfway sended itself away!! So it is much worse than I knew.These Us (is it?) grey ones carry on top of being invasive,a virus. Do You think this is a war that can be won?So in time there are only red ones again.Or at least such a small grey population that people can quickly exterminate?. +Fieldsports Channel I wish we are alowed to hunt with airrifles. What I say here, is a big "nono" here amongst the airgunners & on the forums(fora). First because to better the image for airgunners. But there is a sense of that is not humane to kill with a pellet. Even when we have have no joule restrictions! Now is hunting in my tiny little country always been for the upperclass.And therefore a special thing.There are almost no game fairs here.If there is even one.To much people makes that "nature" is man made here.There is not even 1 square feet of free land. Anyway, I love your whole airgun culture and game fairs.Also I am a big flyfish nut.Another big miss here! The river Rhine was for centuries one of thé bigger salmon and trout rivers.But that was until the 1900's give and take. U.K: coastal flyfishing,the famous salmon rivers till the chalkstreams..I have to work whole year,just so I can fish 3 weeks in Norway.Anyway: love this channel. Keep up making these videos.Also love the reviews.I recently bought a 2nd hands AA prosport. Sadly I have to put new delrin rings in it.Nobody ever had to do this.As it should last a lifetime.Bit of a scam by the prev owner.It must be fantastic to shoot some grey tree rats in the open air with it.

Nice first show of the new programme. However, I would not influence or advise people to take shots from their bedroom window into their back garden. If someone sees you the next thing you experience will be the Police banging down your front door! Isn't it illegal to shoot too close to a residential area/houses.

another great prog wasnt to impressed with the pellet test, prof gerald cardew did an air tunnel test many years back, its on the airgunner dvds sold at the time, the result over whelmingly was the dome pellet performs best with much less wind affecting it especially over longer distances and the smoother the dome the better it flies..
