The #1 question after you buy a new 1/5 RC car or motor is how to break in and tune the engine for performance. Dan Silagy from O'Neill Brothers Racing walks you through the process of how to correctly break in and tune an engine to avoid damaging or seizing it. Dan also describes the different types of carburetors found in most fifth-scale cars, and the differences between them.

I would say this is the best video on youtube on tuning and break in. I've watching this video multiple times while breaking in my redcat mt and xb and learn something new each time. I just recently bought a zenoah g320rc motor and I'm currently breaking it in. The stock hy32cc motors on both my redcats are trash. Killed both of them shortly after break in. Maybe 3 hours of operating time on each and they both lost compression and stopped cranking. ...i'm hoping for better success with the zenoah motors because now I'm about $2000 into this hobby between vehicles, tools, and motors. I'm addicted though so....oh well. Thanks again for the awesome video. Once I learn a little more about OBR motors I hope to upgrade soon. Thumbs up!

This video is exactly what I have been looking for. Yeah, I pull and pull and pull and it never starts. Now I know! I have a fueli 30 cc gas engine and they recommend an 8 hour break in. 4 hours 20:1 & 4 hours 30:1. Seems like a long time. I saw in your video probably about half hour break in . Thanks again Sean.

great vid. so awesome to see a proper vid on the most questions on carbs, engine break in and tuning. Just one question as said below on the heat cycling, do you run the 3 heat cycles during low throttle, 3 heat cycles at half throttle, 3 cycles at full throttle then start tuning or 15 minutes once at low throttle, 15 minutes once at half throttle, 15 minutes once at full throttle then start tuning. Thanks again for the vid. will really help me out.
