I don't know how anyone can hate on Mayweather, if they do they obv don't know boxing. He is a rare generational fighter, and the way he uses his mind makes him maybe TBE. Even some of the other best fighters lost their cool at times and ended up makes mistakes and often losing fights for it. Money never did and that is so hard in a fight. He played boxing like a game and always did what he had to moke sure he won the round/ fight. People get angry because he doesn't stand there and let himself get pounded on? WTF would anyone do that? Only boxers that aren't very bright. Money is boxing genius.

I'm coming from the same era for years my P4P was a toss up between Sugar Ray Robinson and Roy Jones Jr and my favorite fighter is Tommy Hearns.... Love Mayweather him or hate him you have to admit his skill set is second to none, infact i think he would beat both Sugar Ray and Tommy Hearns.. Ray Jones unconventional style and athleticism would give him problems simply on the evidence of the Emmanuel Argustus fight which Floyd himself admitted was his toughest fight... To do what he did to Marquez who I rate very very highly after a 2 years off in my book is one of his best wins, Is he the best ever I'm beginning to think he just maybe TBE...

Gayweather needs to get in the ring with his greatest 'The Pacman' but he won't chicken shit
@ThaDreamMerchant9 жыл бұрын
Soul Deep The ref said time in long before he turned his head. Ortiz was the one headbutting numerous times before so it was just a matter of time before Floyd went for the KO anyway. Ortiz was easier work than stealing candy from a baby. Tell Pacman to take a random blood test when agreed upon and not switch up the cutoff dates at the last second and then make it seem like Mayweather's the one ducking. If you followed the negotiations you'd know that, but most of you don't know jack shit about boxing.

@@juanesparza265 obviously you're not a real boxing fan and don't know anything about boxing history. Ali was the most hated man in boxing in the 60's and even 70's until Larry Holmes took the mantle. And FYI all boxers has history of failing to back up their words. Plus Mayweather most of the time never failed to back up his words. He always says he's going to win and he did. He never mentioned of killing or knocking out anyone. All he says is he's going to beat the other guy which he always did. Plus Willie Pep, James Corbett, and Tyson Fury are more defensive than Mayweather but all they received is praise. You people are just always in denial of your hypocrisy and double standards.

Controversy : Because Marquez had never before fought above 135 lbs and had fought at 130 lbs as recently as March 2008, while Mayweather had campaigned at 147 lbs since 2005, the fight was scheduled to take place at a catchweight of 144 lbs[3] to account for the size disparity between the two fighters. The fight was originally scheduled for July 18, 2009 at the MGM Grand arena but was postponed due to a rib injury sustained by Mayweather. The bout was rescheduled for September 19, 2009.[7] During the official weigh in for their 144 lb bout, Marquez weighed in at 142 lbs and Mayweather weighed in at 146 lbs thereby incurring a financial penalty ($300,000 for each pound over 144 lbs[5]) as he was 2 pounds over the catchweight.[8] It was later revealed that the contract was changed a few days prior to the weigh in so that Mayweather would be allowed to weigh up to the welterweight limit of 147 lbs while avoiding paying an additional fine to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, in addition to the fine he agreed to pay to Marquez.[5] Source: wikipedia

Mayweather should fight Steve Smith JR. It would be the end. Kovalev would do the same.

there is a post that says Pacquiao is faster than Mayweather. in the bouts that they faced the same fighters Mayweather appears to land much quicker than Manny. Mayweather strikes so quickly that there is no response
@isaiahrichardson95358 жыл бұрын
Not so sure. Mayweather scored two punch combos against Canelo, Mosley and Oscar and because he is defensive he stopped there before either could return a single blow

just making sure you were being consistent thats all. Narvaez is a midget. JMM & FM are inch apart in height. Not the same but i get your point. 2 yr layoff vs # 3 P4p ending in a whitewash 12rds -0 rds is credit no matter how u chop it. Outclassing no matter the weight especially since FM didnt try to knock him out.

Absolutely, canelo gets no credit for his previous fights. U can never ever give a guy any credit for fighting a fighter 2 divisions smaller. However I give Floyd credit for Hatton cause even though Hatton moved up a division they looked the same size. Hey if u want praise Floyd beating Marquez u might as well do the same for Donaire beating Narvaez, they looked like they were 4 divisions apart!

Fun Fact: Ironically this took place in September (9th month of the year), 19th (day of the month), 2009 (9th year of the 21st century, and Marquez got his ass whopped all night and received only 9 points per round. Mayweather is so smart with the smallest things. He also for the most part only fought in May (May for abbreviating his last name Mayweather and obviously because of Cinco de Mayo weekend) or September (Mexican independence weekend) 🇲🇽 and liked to fight opponents who’s last name starts with the letter “M” just like him (Marquez, Maidana, McGregor, Mosley, Mitchell, Manfredy, Melo.) Because of the easiness in pronouncing his fights for promoting get it? MayweatherMarquez, MayweatherMaidana, MayweatherMaidana II, MayweatherMcgregor, it adds to the promotions.

A day after Floyd Mayweater missed his agreed-upon catch weight by two pounds for his fight late Saturday against Juan Manuel Marquez, two questions still prevailed. When did he know he wasn't going to make 144 pounds? And did he ever intend to try? The Mayweather-Marquez contracts called for a welterweight fight -- 147 pounds -- but with an agreed-upon weight of 144 pounds. Mayweather weighed 146 pounds at Friday's official weigh-in, to Marquez's 142. If either fighter failed to make the catch weight, he was contractually bound to pay his opponent $300,000 for each pound he weighed heavier than 144. That means Marquez essentially received a 30-percent bonus payment beyond his $2 million contractual purse -- $600,000 -- because Mayweather came in two pounds too heavy. "Want me to be honest?" Mayweather said after his dominant 12-round decision win. "Yesterday, when I woke up in the morning, I weighed at my house. I think I weighed 145 1/2 so I said, 'You know what, at least let me get down to at least 145.' "So I jogged for 20 minutes on the treadmill at my house and I weighed 145-point-zero. So I thought when I got here, I was going to get on the scales and it was going to say 145. But I ain't crying or complaining. If the extra money is something they wanted, then it is what it is." Marquez weighed 148 on HBO's unofficial scale Saturday night. Mayweather refused the network's request for a night-of-fight weigh-in. "I think the weight was a big problem," said Marquez, who never officially weighed in heavier than 135 pounds previously. "I think there was maybe a 20-pound difference in weight." Roger Mayweather, who trains his nephew, said shortly after the weigh-in that he had no idea what the contractual payment required but said he thought it would be four figures, or perhaps low five figures, for each pound overweight. He grossly underestimated the penalty, of course, and said his nephew could have made 144 pounds, and attempted to do so. He suggested his nephew might return to the scale within the two-hour time limit allowed by Nevada statute for a fighter to make weight, but that did not happen. Floyd Mayweather Sr. said he was with his son until midnight the night before the weigh-in, "and he wasn't trying to dry out," the traditional nourishment and hydration deprivation fighters go through the night before a weigh-in. Keith Kizer, Nevada Athletic Commission executive director, said both camps became aware Friday morning that Mayweather would not make the agreed-upon weight, a notification which struck many as curious. "If this was built into the contract then why did they have that meeting?" said Bert Sugar, boxing author and historian. "What was that all about?"
