I built a DIY air conditioner/swamp cooler out of trash. This is in collaboration/competition with the channel, "I did a thing", to see who can make the most useful thing out of trash!

I only discovered "the headless Aussie" yesterday which, binge watching, lead me here. You clearly won for technical almost accomplishment, although he was funnier and his bowl actually worked properly. Wait, never mind, "I did a thing" won on merit, but, unfortunately I am now subscribed to two new KZfaq channels which are guaranteed to waste more of my time. Sigh.

I live in southern California and also have that weird car problem where the ac doesn’t work. This fixes both the cooling aspect and dryness of the air, great solution, thanks!

Well I reckon that your competitor made the better looking and more utilitarian things (the bowl anyway). But I still give you the overall win. I can easily think of living in a shack in some hot, dry place where you might want a nice swamp cooler made from junk to make things more comfortable.

Add a small vent that forces the air through a calcium chloride membrane to remove all the moisture from the cool air.

I think you won in ingenuity. You made a swamp cooler out of a litter box, some Styrofoam, and newspapers! While I did a thing is a great channel, in this case, he fell short, in his quest for danger. The knife just didn't quite cut it!

I had to do something somewhat similar a couple summers ago when the AC in my shop went out. I wish I had thought about using newspapaer or something but I just made a basket to hold ice in a pipe with a fan on the fan on the other end (basically) I ended up using dry ice at one point and that helped but it wasn't a huge difference. However the problem with evaporative coolers like this is they depend on the humidity of the air if you live in a humid place (like me) they are not very effective but can help a tiny bit.

I like the ridiculous amount of inventing that you put into a temporary A/C solution and how I did a thing's was a scrotum bowl but like you have your fingers and he came out with burns so I vote for Alex y'all are both great tho
