My favorite knee KO is Paul Daley vs Brennan Ward. The setup was beautiful by Paul Daley from the clinch by a spinning back elbow to get out of the clinch followed by the flying knee finish. The end result a huge gash on Brennan Ward's left eye.

You can't multiply forces. Holding the head reduces the time of impact (because the head is not "rolling with the punches") which in return increases impulse on impact. Basically holding the head allows all the momentum (aka impulse/~force) to be transferred. If flying, then your whole body weight is transferred in the momentum. If on the ground then the final impulse (~force) is split in half (½ to target and ½ to the ground).
@grimreputation6019
@grimreputation6019 10 ай бұрын
He isn't talking about holding the head, but pulling the head down into the knee. It's more like a vehicular head on collision (where the forces are going against each other) versus tapping someone's bumper (where the forces are going the same direction or where one is stopped).

Hey Shane I have a question that maybe a good video concept also. I am 15 years old and am looking to do an mma match in the near future. The thing is that i live in the Netherlands where strikes to the head in combat sports aren’t allowed under 18 years of age. Also no knees and elbows allowed. What would you do if you had a fight under those rules.

I've ended opponents with knees, and they can come to the legs at so many angles.. to the outer and inner thigh and more directly on the front quad. Its crazy how conditioned the legs can be to kicks but then a tiny grazing knee can just end it

I dont remember who it was but I remember seeing a fairly early UFC (i think. Certainly MMA) match with a really good wrestler/grappler against a good striker who had predominantly been working on his grappling defenses and basic offense. And at the time of the fight was when the masses had turned to the whole wrestling and grappling is everything and unstoppable and striking was so yesterday and thus the guy didntbstand a chance. The wrestler will dive straight in, take him down and its murder she wrote after that. And soon as it kicked off (so to speak) as expected the wrestler run for and straight for the double leg and the other guy was prepared for that and threw a beautiful flying knee and knocked the wrestler out cold, and hard! Just a second or two into the fight it was all over and alot of the fanboys looked just as rocked as the poor wrestler guy! 😂😂😂 That was my favourite all time knee strike of any! 🙂 Twas one of those fights and strikes that shocked people and really changed what i believed was an erronous predominant philosophical trend that went to the extreme from the other erronous extreme it was before that... (basically that striking was everything and wrestling and grappling was useless and gay. :)) As someone who trained first in boxing and judo twice a week each starting the same week at age six (at same facility.) Then some other stuff also from my latter teens inckuding catch wrestling and muay thai.... i was pretty convinced grappling was mean as hell and so was good striking and ita best to have both well rounded and if good at one then least learn good solid defense for the orher. And like i think all the greatest fights people did take notice and it did change the whole scene for the better and the fighting arts evolved for the better from it.
