Figure 8 Start for Vertical Seams

How to perform the Figure 8 start in order to begin a mattress stitch seam.
Where you work the Figure 8 will depend on the seam. For Stockinette, place your needle in between the selvedge stitch and the second stitch in on each side. For Reverse Stockinette, though, you'll want to place it 1.5 sts in on the side where you will be using 1.5 sts as your selvedge and place it one stitch in on the other side. Thank you Heather! I’m using this as a reference for Level 1 Swatch 18. One question, do both of the 10 st by 3” pieces need to be the same color? I hope not, I made them of 2 different light colors.
