This video was so so great I laughed my ass off the whole time. You literally deserve ALL the subscribers in the world!! For a while now, I've been researching inline figure skates to purchase as a beginner and soon to be self-taught skater. Living here in Texas the closest ice skating rink to me is 3 hours away so these skates are my best bet. I trained as a ballerina for 13 years of my life so I'm hoping the spacial awareness I gained through that will help me on my journey, but this video was so perfect and super helpful.

Omg thank you for such a kind comment!!! I think your training will absolutely go a long way, and these are definitely a great alternative to ice skating!! I do admit, there is something really amazing to also skating outdoors!!!! I am so glad you found the video enjoyable, and wishing you the best of luck on your inline journey!!!! Always have fun along the way:) Stay well!

When the rinks closed due to the pandemic, like you, I also transitioned to inline roller figure skates. As an older figure skater, it took awhile to get comfortable on wheels, and I had to make some adjustments to my technique. On ice your blades cut into the surface of the ice and grip or "bite" the ice. You skate "into" the ice. On roller blades, your wheels glide over the surface with no grip. You skate "on top of" the surface. Spins remained a huge challenge, and I discovered I literally had to try to spin on the stopper with the front of the first wheel just barely skimming the ground. This wasn't where I was used to spinning in my (ice) figure skates. Also, with inline roller figure skates, the last wheel is under the heel. You don't have the 1-2 inches of blade extending behind the back of your heel like you do in ice skates, so it's easy to fall off the back of the skate if you lean back too much. When the rinks reopened, there was a good 1-2 days of readjustment going back to ice and relearning my ice-skating technique. Although visually the two sports appear almost identical, experientially, they are very different.

Thank you!! That gives me a lot of hope! I haven't been able to use them too much cause of the cold weather by me, but look forward to strapping them on again. Spinning in these is definitely a little too difficult, I much prefer it on the ice for certain! That rubber toe stop just gets a bit too much friction at times... lol! Stay well :)

100%, it's probably more challenging because of the small space! I'm excited to follow your progress! There's an inline skating community on Facebook called Pic that Sk8! Get on it bro! I ordered a pair of GHs on the 15th and I can't wait until they get here AHH --also, woah woah woah, sk8gear sent you an extra set of wheels for free?!

SUPER challenging! It's really hard to do anything, so I've been looking for a spot around me that I can skate at. More room the better for sure. Thank you for letting me know that!! I will definitely look into joining!! and THATS SO EXCITING!!! There is an adjustment as I said, but I can confirm spinning is quickly adjustable and crossovers are a BREEZE!! Keep me updated on how you like them! So excited for you!!!! Thank you for your support:)!

Which model did you go with and how would you compare the stiffness to main brand skates like Harlick, Edea, or Risport ect? Im looking at their ice skate boots and worry they would break down quickly.
@WutUpJut
@WutUpJut Жыл бұрын
I went with their ‘Loop’ model, they broke down quite quickly actually. I would stay the stiffness was similar to something like the Jackson Mystiques. Their ice lines may be built different though! Sorry for the late response, hope this helps!

Is it true the middle wheel is slightly larger than the back and front wheel which gives the appearance and that it’s rocker feeling? I’m trying to research before getting a pair myself. The other $$$$ GH frames can be adjusted but no info oN GH Presto. Thanks in advance.
@WutUpJut
@WutUpJut 3 жыл бұрын
Yes!! There definitely a rocker feeling that you get on these skates, which made adjusting to three turns and such very quick for me. You can’t adjust how elevated each wheel is, but they definitely are offset a bit! Hope this helps!! Best of luck buying the new skates 😋✨

How heavy are they compared to ur ice skates? And are u able to do any type of one foot spin on them?
@WutUpJut
@WutUpJut 3 жыл бұрын
I’d say they are about the same, closer to my premieres with gold seal blades weight. They definitely have a bit of a clunk to them! But this definitely is not a bad thing 😊 As for the one foot spin... ehhhhh 😂 You can definitely get by pretty well on them, but spins are more mechanical and forced because you are fighting more friction than on ice. Definitely possible, but doesn’t feel the same in the slightest (in my opinion)! Hope this helps 😊✨ Stay super safe, healthy and happy!

how did you know your size to get your skate because the person is telling me to send measurements from the site please help me
@WutUpJut
@WutUpJut 3 жыл бұрын
Hey!!:) So the company I ordered from actually had me send pictures of my foot next to a ruler- which was kind of weird, but made me confident that my size would be correct! If you can't do that, I would recommend looking online for some self-measurement papers that you can print out, or directly ask the company for assistance. I hope this helped!! Choosing the right size is definitely the most stressful part.

Hi Justin! Just a question.. I was actually considering of buying the same model as well though I'm just hesitant because I'm not that certain how it's gonna be like using this vs actual ice skating blades. For you, how different is the feeling? And how easy were you able to adjust? Love your video by the way! Keep up the good work. Thanks!
@WutUpJut
@WutUpJut 3 жыл бұрын
Hey!! So I compare it to skating on slightly dulled our blades. You don’t get that same grip and power that you do on the ice. The toe stop however is the opposite, complete grip and no wiggle room. Things overall felt pretty similar however, just you cannot get to deep on ‘edges’ or you’ll wipe out. Also, back three turns are atrociously terrifying because your back wheel can spin out on you. I honestly still love them and need to get around to making an update video on them. They’re such a great alternative if you can’t get to the rink too often like me, but it never will replace the feeling of ice and the techniques can be slightly different. Don’t hesitate with more questions!! I’m glad the video was helpful and appreciate your support!!:) - Justin

I had no issue with them, but I definitely get being weary! They were the only choice during the time of this video for me since every other store was sold out. I am not sure if they have these exact skates, but I also used to shop through DiscountSkateWear and received awesome customer service and assistance with them! My biggest recommendation is to pay with a credit card or paypal so you have that additional layer of protection just in case anything goes wrong. 🙏

Hey!:) I have gotten a chance to get back on the ice after skating on these for a few! The experience was- a bit bit rusty at best. I definitely want to make a follow up video still, just a lil' lack of time and pandemic craziness that's deferring it. I would say that they definitely helped to keep my body use to the movements, but a lot of my technique was a unexpectedly different on the ice.

skid looks strange like no real skid. Real skid should be like - the last wheel should be placed higher and you only ride 2 front wheels
@WutUpJut
@WutUpJut 3 жыл бұрын
I am not too sure what the skid is, I am gonna guess that would be the plastic piece at the end of regular inlines? For these, they are specifically designed for figure skating, so I think they aren't too traditional. I hope this helps!! :)
@lidiaspringer
@lidiaspringer 3 жыл бұрын
@@WutUpJut No, I mean that gold frame for the better artistic pirouettes should be designed in a different way when the first 2 wheels are closer to each other and the last wheel is placed further like in "snow white". and here they are located at the same distance from each other. When you riding only on the 2 front wheels it's better for artistic riding. When you are riding on 3, 4 or 5 wheels it's for a fast sport.
@jeng6786
@jeng6786 3 жыл бұрын
Look into It because I don't know much about it. But basically the skid is something that changes the way you are able to move on the skates. It's something you might be able to change depending on the brand.
