I recently acquired a Filabot Reclaimer, a machine I've known existed for a while, but never really knew too much about. So there's a little bit more information on this machine out there, I thought I would do a short 'mini review' of the machine.
In this video, I show the features of the machine, a demonstration of it working and talk a bit about the pros and cons.
I hope you enjoy the video, don't forget to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE :D
Spec check:
- $7199
- 115V/230V
- Single Phase
- Weight: 57kg

Very cool video! I have a couple of suggestions to make regarding the machine, though: 1. The problem of overheating the filament on the granulator part can be mitigated. You could adapt fans to cool off that part of the machine. 2. Still regarding the cooling problem, you could set up a timer that can be turned on when processing PLA. It would start, run the machine for 30 seconds, and pause for a short while in order to cool off. Then, it would restart the cycle until the process was over. What I am saying is that this machine gets you almost there. It will be just a matter of making a few minor alterations to this machine to take full advantage of it. 😊

Thanks for the comment! In terms of the suggestions, I agree that additional cooling could be beneficial, but I'm not sure a fan would be sufficient. The shredding blades themselves are actually set quite far in to the unit, so the heat transfer to the edge is minimal. As such, the cooling effect in reverse, would be minimal. The pulsing shredder would work well, but because of all the safety reset switches, again would be difficult to implement for this particular unit. In a similar line of thinking to this though, it may be possible to build a dispenser for the material, so that it drip feeds the material into the shredder. Which should have the same affect as pulsing the shredder. I do also have another shredder which I recently put together on the channel, the chopping motion is different, so may produce less friction. Will cover how that one performs in a future video:)

I am disappointed by pla, but I just use petg. I don't use pla at all any more though because it has price parity with much better materials. Thanks for the vid though. Very good like as a whole thing and like it's a good review of this shredder so that is cool.

This is a very informative video. I didn't even know that this machine existed!! I would like to make a few constructive suggestions for this video, though: 1. I know that you wrote the price in the description but it would have been nice if you have told the price in the video. Nitpicking, I know. We, KZfaq viewers, love to be spoon-fed. 😁 2. I noticed that, at the end of the video, you have a link to the Injection Molding machine video. I now understand that you bought this machine to use in conjunction with that one. It would have been nice if you had mentioned it during the video. Nothing serious. Just a few constructive suggestions with the intention of improving your future videos. I love your channel! You are a great content creator. Keep them coming! 😊👍

Thanks again, I'm also a 'like to know the price' kind of person, so completely understand this feedback:D The injection molding is one of the intended uses for the output of this machine, mainly for the low quality regrind. Higher quality regrind I intend to try and incorporate with virgin pellets for filament. More videos will follow on this, I'm just still waiting to move to a new space!
