Much as I like what Hronek can bring to the rink, he did not have a $7 mil+ per year performance last season. He and his agent are delusional if they think his last half of the season wasn't bad enough to drop him out of his original asking price.

The #1 reason Detroit shipped him out. They had zero talks during Hronek's last season with Detroit. Talks ended a year earlier with Tyler Bertuzzi too. They had to concentrate on Seider and Raymond. Got ASP so I am happy.

I’ve been saying he’s worth 7.5 max since his asking price was announced, but I originally had him worth 6.75… After the showing for this years playoffs, I’d say that’s about right. Maybe they can settle at 7 mil per, if not then they trade him and sign Tanev- hell I’d even take Myers at half the price for a year or two. It would give us room to sign Lindholm or take a shot at Guentzel. Zadorov’s asking price is too high as well, which is too bad…

im likin the ASP in the D, steve knew something. 4.6x4.. kinda a gift really, he might suprise a team on the bottom half with a real value..if you can get a late 2nd or really early 3rd jump hard. haveing said that ya still have to worry of his own overvaluation and being in the same spot VC "enjoys" now

The only way I feel that the Canucks can repeat and build on their success is to have fluidity with the cap... Hronek, Zadorov, Joshua et al. Looking forward can't handcuff the team as a whole... Sure you can talk about Petey, but we know his upside... I think 6.5 is where I'd sign Hronek but if someone offered sheets him and you can get picks... I'd probably go that route... I like Hronek but not for the next 6 years at his asking price

@@bananian Axel Sandin-Pellikka, 17th overall pick in 2023, he already had a great year in SHL by getting the best Swedish born defense in SHL, as well the best defense award in the world’s junior 2024, with the silver medal (losing to the USA, which USA had Trey Augustine as goalie, another 2023 Detroit Red Wings pick. He’s (Trey) currently in Team USA for the World’s men championship.

I’ve saying for the longest time. He’s going to get the Devon Toews deal. Toews is his ultimate comparable, in that is what his role is for the Canucks. 7.25 with term. (Canucks want 6.5, he wants 8. Meet in the middle and boom it’s done.)

I agree…based on his play during the playoffs, both he and Cole played poorly (let Cole go as well), it would be better to sign both Zadorov and Myers’s for about the same money., and then focus on getting Petterson the quality linemaetes that he needs (Lindstrom, & or Guentzel, & or possibly the speedy Necas). Trade him and get the best return possible for him. Maybe fill one of your needs with this trade, or else get a nice first round draft pick + more. Also…what will Tanev possibly sign for? …and work to trade a few others to create some extra cap space to help enable you do all of these things.

Lol. I did comment after the trade that the Vancouver fans would be pleased with his play and really learn to like him regardless of their purchase price. But I did warn that come contract time you wouldn't like him anymore. The reason Yzerman didn't like him is because he threatened a long hold out as a restricted free agent. I don't know if it's him or his agent or the both of them, but that's how he rolls. Most likely his entire career will work out this way. He will get a name for himself as a skilled Diva.

I'd offer 6per at the most. Really mobile, some snarl, but not worth 8. Big Z scares the holy Ghost out of opposing players, and has good mobility for such a big guy. He's worth 6 per, on those metrics alone.

I actually really liked his defensive play and physicality for the most part, although he had hiccups for sure. He's a 26 year old, offensively talented right handed Dman. If he took a short term at like $6.5M I'd definitely sign him. But anything upwards of $7m is just rediculous. Look at Devon Toews, he's a top pairing Dman, two way guy and plays with a Norris caliber player too. He's FAR more effective and doesn't make $8M

I would do max of 4.7 he's just not worth it, his stats are over inflated as you said from Hughes and he does way less than Big Z who scores without playing with Hughes all while being able to take a hit and give a hit back to guys beating on players like Hughes or Pettersson. We should get rid or the guy and try to sign Chris Tanev to a cheap 2 year contract while farm team players improve and take the saving from him,Mikheyev and the 1 million we'll probably save signing Silovs and letting go of Desmith to resign Big Z,Joshua and Lindholm if we can get him for the right price

100% I'd rather have zadorov and joshua over hronek. Zadorov is miles better than hronek, and for less money. No brainer.

In the playoffs, Hronek cannot keep the puck for more than 3 seconds. He often passes with his backhand to his teammates that is not very accurate. Compare to Hughes, he cannot drive the play himself on his own like Hughes can. He is good but not worth 8 mil he asks for. Get rid of him, we can find replacements for him. Period.

Filip Hronek is not a problem. He was the upgrade at defense they needed .Sign him for $6 million. $8 is too much. $6.5. If he won't sign for that off you go. Myers is done. Sign Zadorov for 3.5?? again. They have Soucy. I'd still try to sign Hronek. But yeah $8 million is ridiculous. Go get Brady Skjei. I'm a big Gostisbehere fan and he will not get more than $4 million. Bring up someone from the AHL. Yeah you are right $8 million is too much.

Zadorov is a priority here. I think 5x5 for him is probably worth it. I honestly wouldn't even mind having Myers either....

Zadorov for 5 I think is justified. Myers if we can get him at 3 (he should a take a team friendly contract to make up for his last one tbh).

@@debuthunter5389 I don't think that's how contracts work and I think someone will offer four or five million for four or five years for the big bodied Myers who seems to have found some nastiness.
