Good foe him. No question he got brains - One cannot just pass that course without some grey matter - Although interest is foremost!

Yes mostly BSEE and BSECE in the Philippines, since we don't have a Biomedical Engineering degree program. Both have an Electronic background, so it's just the chance to work with Medical Equipment and get company service training. Good for him. It's a nice fulfilling job.:)

Yes, you can as long as you pass all the requirements. We now have 8 Canadian schools that offer this Biomedical Technologies course. BCIT in Vancouver BC, NAIT in Edmonton Alberta, St. Clair College in Windsor, Centennial College, and Durham College are all in Ontario. One in Montreal, Quebec, and one in Newfoundland The College of North Atlantic. Hope this helps. :)

It depends on where you will apply and be accepted as an International Student on a Visa to Canada. Also, I might add that Biomedical Engineering Technologies courses in Canada deal with Bio-Medical Equipment Servicing. We now have 8 Canadian schools that offer this Biomedical Technologies course. I think the guy is misleading, i used to be a biomedical technologist and i dealt with biomaterial (like bovine pericardium for use in heart valve, stent cover, bariatric reduction)…what he’s saying is he’s dealing with equipments and equipments are not “bio” material. Also, OR’s makes sure equipments are properly functioning, calibrated and etc. before they are put to use because surgeons would not want to deal with malfunctioning equipments in the middle of very critical procedures like what he was saying (open brain surgery?). Surgeons would always want to avoid such scenarios except for some very rare unexpected occurrences, and want it done efficiently and flawlessly (he was implying he was called to fix the machine/equipment while the patient’s head is open?

Sorry, I don't know where was the misleading part, and I did not say anything about Bio Materials. All I said was I am part of the Cardio Vascular team for Biomed that deals with Heart-Lung machines. I was sent to Houston, USA for this specialized Heart-Lung Machine. In the section where I was called for a Fluorescence Microscope that stopped working, was where the monitor display froze during Neurosurgery, I am not sure what the procedure was (but normally for aneurysm or cancer cell removal) all I needed to know was to make the microscope back to operating condition which I managed to make it work. Actually, it happened twice to me and once to my colleague. The microscope unfortunately was an old model that we are now replacing with a new one. Once we have this new Microscope, technical training will be provided for Biomedical technologists, either in Germany or in California, USA. This is just to show that we including you as you mentioned a Biomedical Technologist work to make our hospital patients safe. Also, I might add that Biomedical Engineering Technologies courses in the USA and Canada deal with Bio-Medical Equipment Servicing. We do not deal with the Biomaterials you mentioned. :)

@@apriljoytan5382 Yes just like this morning, but this time before they started the surgical procedure I was called again for the microscope there was no video signal and they were unable to start. I did fix it in time to start the surgical procedure. :) I think the guy is not a Biomedical Equipment Technologist but more on clinical Biomed works.

Tama ka kabayan. Ang mahirap sa ibang kabayan natin kapag may nagiging successful na Pinoy, gusto naman siraan. Typical crab mentality. Dapat iniwan na nila itong bad trait, sa Pinas!
