Shoot Film Like a Boss

Shoot Film Like a Boss

Күн бұрын

I have been wanting to make a video of this place for some while now and I finally got around to making one. I have shot here once before but this time I researched more about the place which made my Photography session more interesting.
This is Part One of a Two Part Series.
Part One - Location Shoot and Developing
Part Two - Darkroom Printing Session
Keep a look out for the Darkroom Print Session which will be Part Two.
I must thank those two Ladies that kindly spoke to me on camera about their experiences of the Cellar.
About my videos
If my videos inspire, create ideas and help others in film photography and darkroom work then it's worth making them.
I always welcome comments that are useful towards the video subject that will help others understand the process within.
Keep shooting and thanks for watching.

I had a kingfisher pearch right next to the bird hide one day. Kingfisher had never been seen in that location, focused, pressed the shutter, nothing, press press press, camera not working, pulled the camera back into the hide, shutter fired perfectly, just as I got focused up on the kingfisher again, it took flight, fired the shutter, got a photo of a stick. Your mates Mamiya acting up at the celler entrance bought the above story back to mind.

Bummer! The Mamiya has played up before using the timer. Luckily I'm not shooting wildlife! That wind gust was freaky though. You see me look around sharpish. I thought my video camera was going to go

My favorite Mamiya 645 film is easily FP4 because its easy to use in the 645 and produces some amazing photos. I have tried Hp5 and Delta 100 and 400 and XP2 in my Argus C3 I prefer overall Delta 100. I find XP2 to be a frequent staple in my camera bag because its easy to get developed.
@ShootFilmLikeaBoss

Fp4, hp5, delta range trix, tmax I've all found to be solid films and easy to work with. Mamiya is a good bit of kit too
@pilsplease7561
@pilsplease7561 4 жыл бұрын
@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss I find that Tmax has development issues depending on the chemicals used, I used Ilfosol 3 on 2 rolls per ilfords recommended time cause they include it on the chart on the website and it came out super grainy despite the fact that its probably one of the cleanest films grain wise you can get.
@ShootFilmLikeaBoss

@@pilsplease7561 I've never used Ilfosol. Could it have been reticulation?
@pilsplease7561
@pilsplease7561 4 жыл бұрын
@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss Im not sure, Ilfosol is ilfords one use developer, you mix it and use it for a batch then toss it and make more but its supposed to work with pretty much every film. I just cant get good results with Tmax yet ilford themselves tested it and it worked out and I used the recommendations they had on the chart. What developers have you used? I might try a different one out if you have any suggestions.

A haunted house and black and white film photography ... who could ask for anything more? John Finch recommends fixing for twice the clearing time: www.KZfaq.com/watch?v=Agdn3ms5jCA In the above video he also shows a two bath fixing technique. I know he has another video where he demonstrates fixing for twice the clearing time using a single fix bath, but I can't seem to find it.

@ShootFilmLikeaBoss

Thank you I'll try that. I use film but after processing everything else is digital and film scanners are fairly unforgiving of dust, hairs and streaks.
@ShootFilmLikeaBoss

@@DessieTots I always hang in my bathroom. Take all fabric out (towels, toilet rolls, clothes) and have a weight or peg clamped to the bottom of the film. You see me in the video hang in my darkroom but there is no air in there and the film takes hours to dry. so I move it to the bathroom where there is air. Washing up liquid works well for me. I've never had a problem
