Final Assembly - Tracked Amphibious Vehicle Build Ep. 24

In this episode I'm starting the final assembly on my homemade tracked amphibious vehicle. I'm fabricating a new hood scoop for the otherwise vulnerable to elements engine bay cooling fan, making the engine and gearbox frame lighter and slightly modifying it to make the CVT belt tensioning easier. I'm also adding a car alternator with a custom belt tensioning system to make the charging system cope with two 12 V winches and all the lights on board. Cleaning and painting the differential brake steering unit without the side brakes on, installing the engine and the gearbox and starting to button up the rest of the vehicle. In the next episode we will ride this thing! Stay tuned!

Donn DIY man I love this project. Your doing such a fantastic job. I only wish I could see it in person. Or better yet. Go for a ride with you lol. Maybe pull some trees out. Also love your woods trailer with the grapple. My brother is rebuilding a bombardier from I think the 70’s. It’s pretty cool too. Has an old flat head he just got done rebuilding from the ground up. It’s a Chrysler spitfire if memory serves me. Going to be used to pull wood out. As we go through tons with the outdoor wood furnace we use to heat both our shops. Thanks for taking the time to video the process man. Keep it up. Your doing great work!!! Ian. Vinalhaven Maine.

Alrighty then. First, good job. Next, I like the grinder work. Next, the fancy and shape shifting drill press. Then, all the exactness of the different tensioners. 👍 Finally, waiting for the ride along. Just can't wait to sit back, pop a top and ride along with you. I'm sure I'll have to watch it multiple times to get my fill of the fun and beer. However, at least I'll have a designated driver. LOL thanks for sharing, cheers 👍👍

None of the snow cat or amphibious or solid frame track builds I have seen survive bumps and off road terrain without bending the axles, breaking wheel bearings or tearing up bogies/tires/wheels... I had a set of solid frame Mattracks and I was always fixing them. The old no suspension snow cats had very similar issues. Keep the videos coming!!

You will have to open the sheaves on one and close the one on the engine at that point it should be tight enough as to not let the belt come past the sheaves on the driven clutch (the big one) I have been riding snowmobiles for 42 yrs and you want to adjust the belt properly!! Enjoy the fastest ride yet!!!
