How about, if you have a multipin sight and have it moved down, do the other pins hold true? Like bottom pin is normally 40, gets moved to 80, do the other pins hold true at 70 and 60?

Was watching your video while warming up on the boxer bike at the gym yesterday. I'm a true beginner currently saving for my first hunting compound bow. Doing all my research in the meantime gorging myself on as many hunting/info/skills/product review vids I can in a day. The amount of shared hunting knowledge available is powerful! Back to the gym... Throughout entire workout I was wondering what are best exercises, lifts, stretches, etc...I can start doing now to start becoming bowman fit for 2024. Which exercises will help with certain aspects of my hunts (physical & mental)? If y'all have already posted this content then I'd love a link. Thnx again for sharing your hunts, knowledge and power 🤘

Dan...you should take a look at the new RIP SS....exact same gpi of 10.7g as the Axis 300 spine. That arrow is going to be indestructible. I used to shoot the VAP SS before switching to the RIP TKO and those arrows are phenomenal. Only reason I switched is because I like the .204 components much better.

Great video. Interesting to hear about results from different broadhead use. I used a grim reaper pro series mechanical to kill a AZ muley this month. 79 lb, 28" draw Mathews v3 31, 460 grain RIP TKO. 85 yard shot I broke his right shoulder and arrow ended up poking through the opposite scapula. Buck went less than 100 yards and I heard him crash in less than 10 seconds. Awesome blood trail.

Good job and great observations.. Lets just say, fixed blades insure you are confident the job will get done. Breaking scapula on an elk is and passing through is going to be a short track and a guaranteed kill.

ABT! I'd toss my vote in for comparing penetration and flight differences of this years run of arrows (Rip TKO @435 grains) VS the (Match Grade Easton Axis) set up that was mentioned. Same broadhead line ups that was used to for the kill shots on this years successful haul.

I know I’m late to the party but I very much appreciate the information you share here! Also congratulations on such a awesome hunting season! I’m 73 and still trying to kill my first elk. Though success may not be something we share your arrow and broadhead choices we do share. Several years ago I chose to go with 204/5MM arrows and this year with Iron Will broadheads though I had gone with a cheaper but less durable double bevel broadhead a few years ago. I would have preferred the Iron Will even then if not for the price. I had selected the Victory Xtorsion SS arrow but I learned just this season they are no longer made. They are a bit in the heavy side anyway so more difficult to get a high FOC. I live in NC but hold a Montana general season Elk tag is a major reason for buying the Iron Will DB blades. I only pull about 60 lbs at 27” so I want a high performance blade and arrow combo. I also have the (I think Podium) Titanium 50 gn halfcerts. Anyway, doing my MT hunt DIY, training and dieting. Not a steady shot so keeping shots to 40 yds or less. The best to you and your hunts this year and I encourage everyone to become a Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation member!

ive been hunting pronghorn for at least 10 years and a year and a half ago i finally shot my first buck pronghorn at 80yrds spot and stalk with a muzzy shank and pronghorn are one of the most weary, tough to hunt animals in my opinion. they do jump the string like a white tail and they have eyesight like a pair of 20x binoculars they have excellent long distance vision which is why they are on alert and prefer open space to bed and graze

Great job this past year Dan! I think the arrow setup is perfect except for the 6° max helical. With those smaller cut fixed blades I believe 3° helical is perfect. It's not as loud as the 6° and it is more forgivig than the 2.5° offset. I believe the Arizona EZ Fletch jig has a 3° helical option. The Bohning Cauldren is another great option for 3° helical and so is the Bohning Multi Fletch. It's worth a try imo. I'm an ABT guy to the core. Tried just about every fletching, arrow and broadhead combo there is. My setup for the last 3 years has been RIP TKO 350s, 75 grain Ethics Halfout and Iron Will Wide 100s. I'm only hunting Whitetail at 60#, 28" DL though. Anyway, congrats on a great season and I look forward to more great content!

You can find a broadhead that you can literally use for life and never switch. Mine has been Muzzy 100 gr. Caribou, black bear, white and muleys, elk, moose and a few brown bear (125 gr.) I have tried many types and a ton of expandables ever since the POS Pucketts blood trailer come out. My buddy gave me some Grim Reaper Hades to try. They fly exactly like my Muzzy's do and will accompany me this spring for brown bear.

Excellent after season review video of your season last year and the different broadhead combinations you used depending on what hunt you went on. The breakdown of the terminal performance on real live game and meat 🍖 and bone 🦴 is important to experience. You can drop dimes on foam all day in the 10 and 12 ring, but if the arrow doesn’t perform and kill game and they fall down in a reasonable distance it doesn’t matter. I switched to the Victory ✌🏻 RIP TKOs in 300 spine with the DCA Custom Arrow Super Sabre vanes mostly because of your recommendation and they fly great at around 475 grain with lighted nock and 100 grain G5 Montec M3s. Sadly I didn’t get to try them on any whitetail 🦌 no matter how hard I tried. I dare you to have a bow setup for using those Ranch Fairy 600 grain arrows Troy sent you and actually go hunting with them and test them on either a bear 🐻, elk or at least a mountain 🏔️ buck whitetail. 🦌 Congratulations on that by the way along with the rest of the great tasty 😋 animals.

Dan is the spark plug that knows how to market and talk, Tim is a cinematic genius, Josh is just a cool dude that happens to be an archery wizard. The thing is IMO Josh needed Dan to really elevate his business and put him on the map, Dan needed Josh to boost his channel, Tim needed Dan to get his work out to the world, Dan needed Tim to balance and create. Bottom line is you all need each other and in a town the size of Spokane you all will be hard pressed to find better.

I used the Exodus 100 full blade this year on a mature buck he went maybe 70 yards. Shot him at 12 yards right above the heart complete pass through didn't know he was shot. Ended up shooting him again when he ran out to 30 yards hit a limb and drilled him upper back knocking him to the ground he then got up and ran. I think the second shot got his adrenaline pumping, probably would of been better with only the first shot and he probably would of died at 30. Awesome broadhead flies great.

How does the draw length affect arrow energy/speed? Is the longer your draw length (everything else being the same) increase/decrease/or no affect on the energy/speed?

Tim, you forgot the turkey during the recap. Dan, did you eat the turkey for Thanksgiving? Have you guys looked into Tooth of the Arrow broadheads? I have had really good luck with the 125gr XLs.

I highly recommend at least testing the Victory RIP SS. I ‘d even give you a set to try. You’ll be impressed.

Great video, really dig this format. One question what thorn broadhead was used on the turkey? I have seen some of their stuff on the inter-web and thought it looked kind of gimmicky. What is your overall impression of their stuff quality and durability wise?

Can you comment on your component used. We’re all arrows built with Iron will hit inserts and impact collars and swapped broad heads or were the grim reapers used with different inserts and components?

I wouldn't be blaming the broadhead for that antelope shot. You said yourself you shot too far forward. One lung with the Iron Will wouldn't have done as much damage as that Fatal Steel did with the same shot placement. Maybe you'd get an exit, but I don't see the end result being different. Shooting further back on the hard quartered away shot would be devastating with the Reaper. I shot a whitetail doe with a TOTA 1" solid, 9 yard shot from my saddle, double lung pass through, no blood at all until where she crashed 35 yards away. I shot a spike with a Grim Reaper Pro 1-3/8 mech, quartered away, 46 yard shot from the ground, double lung stopped by offside shoulder, but looked like a slasher film blood trail even with just one hole. He made it 125 yards. When I butchered him the wound channel was unreal.

Good stuff guys! I liked 'the breakdown' of the shots and the performance of Dan's broadhead/arrow combinations. I went through a handful of years shooting expandable broadheads and I can really only remember ONE freaking doe that I had a pass through with them. I'm a short draw length too (26") and I believe they rob waayyy too much energy from an arrow for midgets like him and I to use on big game animals... 🤫
