Thank you for this delightfull trip down memory lane. FF9 was very important to me growing up. It even was the story I ended up bonding over with my first girlfriend. Looking forward to part 2. :)

Get the hidden mage masher in ice cavern and kill black waltz first. Then zidane goes into trance and you can use tidal flame. One shot on the sealion.

I prolly shoulda said something about this oops. Yeah, I learned recently-ish its iifa, but I've always called it Lifa tree s; so I just defaulted to that ^^
