Imagine the overhauled graphics with the original voice acting for the fight. I'd honestly like to see a mod or in game option for something like that.

The Original in terms of VA put lots of emotions into it fit to every character's, personality compared to the Reunion/Remake version. On the other hand, the combat system of the Remake Version puts a lot of improvement than to the original.

i kinda hate that in reunion sephiroth doesn't have his eyes glow like they do in some parts of the cutscenes in this fight. also when sephiroth stares at zack and does an evil smile , yeah the new model looks better but his expressions is much less evil looking. in og crisis core his facial expression is pretty much " oh i'm gonna enjoy tearing you apart "

A lot of people hating on the remaster. The graphics were amazing, the VA was decent (true we didn't get everyone back but they did well), and the music was even better. They took a lot of the original music and mixed it with some of the newer stuff. Yes this soundtrack sounds amazing and you hear the original one winged angel however the newer version is much more dramatic as well as ominous. The choir and orchestra is very dark, showing a kind of desent into the villain we know and love. So nag at it all you like however they did well and if they redid Dirge like this I would also play it.

I always hated this fight. It makes no sense canonically. Yes, Zack is strong and very, very skilled. But in the original game Zack runs into the room where Sephiroth is and then three seconds later he flies out of the room, hits the ceiling and the pipes and then lands backwards on one of the pods. He just gets decimated by Sephiroth in a matter of seconds because Sephiroth wanted him out of the way so he could have his reunion. I know in this game he's the hero, but don't change what was originally portrayed for the sake of building up the protagonist. Zack isn't supposed to be a match for Sephiroth, in fact, it makes Sephiroth look weak here. "YOU DEFEATED SEPHIROTH" ...It just takes the danger out of the situation entirely and makes him as an antagonist not seem as dangerous as he is. When Cloud stabbed Sephiroth, it was an act of desperation. A last ditch effort to stop him. Also, Sephiroth going back into the room to stab Cloud is ridiculous. In the original, Cloud and Zack were ants to Sephiroth. Even after being stabbed he had a single focus which was getting Jenova out of there. He didn't care about anything else. These knats kept getting in his way though. It comes to a head when Zack tells Cloud to finish him off and Cloud runs after him and gets stabbed and then he throws Sephiroth over the side. When they portray Sephiroth as being petty enough to go back to the Jenova room to finish off Cloud, it elevates Cloud's presence which wasn't the point of the original scene. It was to show how a regular nobody finished off the great Sephiroth.

I honestly fell that they kept some cutscenes from the original game, if they can upgrade the summons why not the cutscenes.

let's keep in mind that at this point in the timeline, Cloud wasn't infused with Jenova Cells or inherited Zack's memories/skills yet, so the fact he was able to stand up to Sephiroth is all the more impressive.

I love this game, played it for a PSP.

I wonder why they omitted her face on reunion, i was expecting to see it. That, and the loss of Sephiroth’s lines during his Octaslash kinda sucked. But still, overall, i loves the game, made combat way more enjoyable and less interrupted, as well as tedious.

Sephiroth does only 5 hit on his Octaslash. When it should have been 8 slashes. As the name is literally caleed "OCTA"-slash meaning Eight slash. Kinda hoped they fixed it in the remake. Or at least say Octaslash v5 or something. 😑

I don’t care what anybody says, Sephiroth’s new voice actor absolutely murdered Newbern’s depiction in this entire scene. Hoechlin comes off as a more natural voice, as opposed to trying too hard to being too anime. Hoechlin also comes off as more eerie, creepy, and menacing. Which is fitting for him initially losing his mind at this moment. I also think that his delivery is much better than Newbern’s in this entire sequence. HOWEVER, I love Newbern, and I think his portrayal in Advent Children is on an entirely different level!! I know I’ll get hate for this, but to be honest. After coming back after almost a decade to replaying this game, and then hearing Newbern’s portrayal in Crisis Core after hearing Hoechlin’s…..I couldn’t even get through Newbern’s. I think people that say otherwise are just too nostalgia stricken and they’re just being blinded and petty always complaining about the new voice actors. I think a lot of people overlook too that Newbern got some BEAST ASS FREGGIN lines in Advent Children. While Hoechlin has been very very limited by his lines in Remake. Just my opinion…..people will hate on it, but after seeing Hoechlin’s portrayal in this with having pretty weak dialogue. I have no doubts whatsoever that he’s going to absolutely kill it in Rebirth. I can’t wait.

Expecting the new voices to be exactly the same is crazy. They did a good job with the new actors. Cloud's great. Sephiroth sounds a bit softer than the OG, but it's overall the same. Zach is the most controversial since he lacks that big brother energy and the VA has trouble sounding upset, making him sound like a whiny kid during the dramatic moments. But for most of the game it didn't bother me since he did capture Zach's character as an energetic optimist, and Reunion has him do the last stand speech in the voice direction it was meant to have.

Man both Zack and Sephirots' new voice actors are just horrible. Why did they replace them in the first place?

Replacing all the talented voice actors with regular tv actors with no VA experience, Unnecessary censoring, Unnecessary swearing, bizarre alterations in the dialogue, Facial animations with less life and emotion than the PSP version, an art style that does not even compete with the FF7 remake, let alone any other AAA game released this year.. Do people actually enjoy this? Is it really okay to just rebuild assets with a high poly count, add reflections and specularity to everything and then charge $50 for it? I would rather they just ported the PSP game to PC....

In terms of the combat, Reunion absolutely DOMINATES. But if we had a choice to use the original and new voices, then that would've been amazing. Granted, I honestly don't mind the new voice for Zack and I've grown to love Cloud, Tifa, and Sepiroth's voices due to Remake.

Ok, as someone who has played both the games, i actually perfer sephiroths remade voice because before he becomes evil, his voice is lighter but than once he really becomes evil you can hear it in his voice, to me the original sephiroth obviously has emotion but his voice and tone stay the same throughout the original, the remaster VA does a better job IMO

Censorship thanks to the Ethics Department. Ratings are pointless now when companies are internally censoring their games in order to globalize. In 2007, CCFF7 was Cero B (12+) in Japan and the overseas version was T for Teen. The scenes were uncensored and we got naked Jenova with nipple plus a fine looking Tifa. CCFF7R is Cero C (15+) in Japan and still Teen overseas. Now black smoke is added when stabbed, Jenova body hidden, head is altered, and Tifa has black piece of clothing blocking her cleavage when its the same outfit in FF7R proving that she's being targeted.

Gosh, as a voiceactor myself I just have to get it Out; the voiceacting of the newer Version sucks ass in this scene. Aside from the stiffness and Lack of emotions they even geht the most Basic techniques a voice actor has to learn wrong. No Sense for tonality or which words to emphasize when. And yes there are Rules for that. Voice acting is Part Art and Part technique. Especially "Zack" makes me cringe in both Matters. What a shame.
