Enjoy~!! Objective is to defeat 18-22 Tonberrys, I fought around 12 until the King showed up. =)
Boss Name: Tonberry King HP: 2500~250,000 - AP: 20
Weak vs. Ice /Absorbs Fire
During the last battle of the Tonberry, the Tonberry King will be lure out, and Diablos is no longer useful because the Tonberry King is immune to Diablos' attack. Begin using each party member's best GF, and Boost them all as much as possible. (I used Squall because I got his Lion Heart early in the game by defining the right cards to items.) The Tonberry King has A LOT OF HP, so you can except this battle to take as long as half an hour. (Five minutes...)
The Tonberry King's attacks are just as powerful as the other Tonberrys, but the Boss is much faster. You can counter this advantage by casting Haste on everyone, plus you should also consider using Protect to cut down the damage it does to your characters. The King has Full-Life and Curaga spells that you can use to keep your party in the fight. I would draw 100 of those from the Tonberry King for later in the game.
Note: If this battle is too tough at this stage of the game, after Balamb Garden has been mobile, you may need to try again later.

Am i the only one who's kinda disappointed that when you defeat The Tonberry king as well as the jumbo cactuar, you just get a regular tonberry and cactuar for a summon?

Welcome to the club. Especially after all the time it takes to beat them and Jumbo Cactuar might run away when near defeat (Jumbo Cactuar is hesitating...) forcing you to chase him down and fight him again from scratch.

Yeah.. there is also a secret draw point called "Devine" that SS never told anybody about, so you won't find any info on it. I found it by mistake after you defeat Bahamut and see that empty large hole. Devine allows you invisibility and you'll never take any damage until it wears off.

Very useful video, thanks :-) I've kept the levels low (12-18 atm) and killed 6 Tonberries so far. Gonna keep grinding them until the random-chance boss appears, but I now know from this video to keep Squall's health low to trigger his limit. I'm using Selphie instead of Rinoa because Rinoa's currently in the infirmary following the battle of the 2 Gardens. One question though - did you record this video while on disc 2? (as I noticed that Alexender was missing from the summon screen).

Benjy Dale Hehe...I just started replaying this on the psn; so I've been playing with low-levels, its not so bad, and I had the timer on to fight Tonberry as I didn't want Odin.

WTF ?! Rinoa's menu is *ATTACK, DRAW, GF, ITEM* and Zell's menu is *ATTACK, MAGIC, GF, DRAW* How can you play in such chaos ?!! (Draw are not in the same spot)

i thought the gimmick was that they did 9999 damage or instantly killed a party member, why is he only doing less than 400-800 damage?

Colin C tonberry dmg is based on how many enemies your characters have killed individially. Some playthroughs people just use Card ability on enemies which turns them into Game cards that can be refined for rare items. Carding enemies doesnt count as kills. its the easiest method to getting ultimate weapons in disc 1 and beating tonberry king with no problem.

Sorry, yeah. Odin is random. Only the beginning of the battle he will summon himself. The chance of him summoning, not sure. But you can still draw Magic, and do Angelo searching. You can draw as many magic as you want when he doesn't appear, Odin will only appear once at the start of the battle. =)

Tsang Sir question once I get squall’s lion heart on disc one. Does his limit break include: rough divide, fated circle, blasting zone. Does it include all of those once I obtain the lion heart

hi, can i ask you something? how can you do that damage? i have squall in lvl 37, with ultima added to strength(it is supposed to be the most powerful magic to junction) and strength+20% of ifrit, but i cant do more than 600 dmg in every hit with squall or zell, am i forgetting something more to add? i love this game but i really dont understand how can i do more damage and it is frustrating T_T

You need 100 Ultima junctioned. Which I presume must be your issue, because there's no way you'd be doing only 600 damage if you had 100 Ultima junctioned to strength.

Junction good magic to Squall's Str, add lots of Str abilities, get Lion Heart, get the enemy's Vit to zero and, if possible, junction according to the monster's vulnerabilities. As a bonus, u get higher attack damage while berserk.

Just selection Junction Auto Atk, and you'll do over 2000 damage on Disc 1.

what do you mean? There's nothing inside the ruins, but Odin himself and the Tonberry King quest.

After player defeats several tonberries in this ruin， king tonberry would appear. Odin hides in a room of the tower in the ruin，player would answer password that system hints to open Odin's room.

Once the Tonberry King appears, you can no longer escape the battle.

Odin and Gilgamesh are based on luck. The Higher luck your team has the better chances they'll apear.

Dallin Nguyen Im not sure but theres rumours that when all 3 of your characters reach lvl 100, you can draw Apocalypse from Tonberry King, well, actually, it did work on my version, and i have 100 Apocalypse for 3 of my characters. This spell is powerful, but not as strong as Ultima

I don't know about that. Apocolypse is a spell for Ultimecia's final fight. All sources indicate this as false. If you have the PC/steam version. If you by chance used the all magic/gil cheat. that's likely why.

The characters are always in the Limit Break when their HP is below 30% (and the HP become Yellow below 25% to indicate that)

You have to just switch alot between the characters when your HP is low (yellow).

He should have used Draw with the 2 other characters, so he'd have had all the time of the animations to circle on Squall to get the Limit break poping.

@@Alan-cm7ye yeah, did that. But still took a bit of time, because have to beat approximately 10 tonberries before the king appeared. Not sure on the exact number of tonberries as it was years ago when I played this game.

I found it easier to Draw your triples from odin, slap it on str at about lvl 40 for all 3 toons and facefuck the shit out of him after drawing your 300 full-lifes o course, but then again majority of my kills untill this point were with squall. my everybody grudge on Irvine only came out around 290 HP with protect on lol.
