Final Fantasy VIII HD - Omega Weapon

Here he is, Omega. This took me quite some time to prepare. I'm well aware that I could have done this at any level, but being Lvl 100 ensures max strength and possibly Vit as well as other stats. Omega is one of those special Final Fantasy bosses who fights with a certain pattern, here is what it looks like as well as how I decided to counter:
* Lvl 5 Death = 100 Death Junctioned to St-Def
* Meteor = 1 Megalixer
* Megido Flame = Aura Stones/Limit Break
* Gravija = Megalixer & Defend
* Terra Break = Limit Break + Megalixer
* Ultima = Aura Stones/Megalixer/Revive
* LIGHT PILLAR = REVIVE
It starts with Lvl 5 Death, which can be EASILY nullified and fortunately it never uses it again. Meltdown is optional but for the sake of getting through this quickly, why not? Correct me if I'm wrong, but is Meltdown inflicted if the target changes color? If not then I wasted time using it repeatedly.
Anyways I found this to be an action=reaction fight, and it was harder than I wanted it to be. The fact that there's a pattern makes it simple, yet frustrating because the speed of using those Megalixers and Defend commands don't save you in time for Terra Break if you move slowly. Once that happens, it's gameover. So you have to play your cards right or else the slightest mistake before Megido Flame or Terra Break will cost you the battle. Irvine's Limits are my favorite to use since they rack up more damage than Squall or Zell (well, from what I see at least.)
Sticking strictly to the battle pattern will keep you alive. Also, if it happens to do a normal physical attack, then be happy because that's a free turn to do whatever you want, like another Limit. You gotta keep your eyes peeled though, it's still easy to mess up.
Since this is the millionth video of this boss on the internet, I don't know why I typed all of this up lol. Late to the party again I know! Ultimecia comes later today.

Now Final Fantasy is wailing on your enemies repeatedly with feathers while building a stagger gauge to open a window to actually hit them with something more substantial then repeat. But they do it like that now cause it's apparently what the majority want/like. People would rather have combat that is flashy then something where each attack feels impactful.

Oh good old days. I didn't had Lion heart when i was fighting omega, and i was noob, so i didn't use any items :D After a week of trying i finally beat it using Squall, Zell and Quistis. Quistis was for White Wind, Zell for Defend, all damage was done by Squall. I kept him at low hp, and sometimes used aura spell. That was a long tough fight, but i managed to do it :)

Was 11 when i first tried, dead over 40 times. 12 years later on PS4 i beat him with no Cheese, more Timing and not a single holy war. Why? As you showed plenty at the end there: Canister shots. OP in my opinion because of the ridiculous time to shoot compared to any other shots. Learned his attack pattern as well, and the Rest is history. You feel really satisfied when finally beating him. Thanks for the memories!

In terms of damage, Squall, Zell and Irvine are the best pick. All 3 can dish out a ton of damage with their limit breaks if done right (or if you get Lion Heart with Squall on top of his Renzokuken). Or you can just have one be replaced by Selphie and use The End for insta-win.

100% agree, that's ALWAYS the team I rolled with. It wasn't even being sexist, Irvine annihilates with Pulse Ammo. Zell can majorly kick ass with his limit. And well Squall, just f'n rocks.

There's a way to get The End easily, but it required you to open your PS1 disc cover once you activated selphies limit break. This allowed you to keep shuffling through her limit break without Omega being able to move until you selected something. Once you selected the limit break, you close the PS1 lid back and then profit ensues.

What a game, so many things to do, this fight was really hard, people saying it's easy try to sound cool and shit, but when you are playing for the first time or second and don't really have KZfaq and the most important, you are a 14 kid or less it's a hard challenge to beat him, still remember the tension in this fight and the failures haha, epic memories, just listening the music of some Psx games makes feel sad 😭. Wish I was that happy kid playing psx again.

I had Rhinoa + Squall + a heeler.... and kept pumping out Wishing Star & Lion Heart, while the Heeler concentrated on giving out Aura & Cure. Miss this game. My First game ever and this introduced me to the FF series.

i know this is a really old thread but the chance to get a lionheart increases the less hp squall has.. so ideally you should use squalls limit break as often as possible after omega used megido flame on your party.. this way you don't need to farm these annoying luck seeds..

Brings back memories. I fought it many times. Used many different stiles, teams. Holy War. The End, Defend, Zombie. Even Apocalypse ( for junction purpose ( together with Ultima....that gave me the best protection )). But the one battle I still remember to this day is the one in which Omega was going ''nuts'' ( way too quick, I could barely keep up ). In the end he overpowered me speed wise ( I had no chance to react ). And with the whole team dead....Phoenix !!! I was stunned. I activated Holy war after that and survived. But that particular Omega was as deadly as they come.

For me using both of the spells with 100 value for janctioning as well as casting them was for the purpose of a replay value, as otherwise I already did this game quite a few times in many different ways. So I wanted to see and use the best junction magic in use in my final replay. P.S. Ultima spell casting damage wise is better.

Cheap startegy: use Squall, Zell, and Rinoa. Enter battle with low HP (yellow), then quickly use a Holy Wars to make your party invincible, Meltdown him, and obliterate him with Limit Breaks (Rinoa must use Meteor while in her winged form). This shall kill him before the invincibility ends.

Ha! I remember this battle. My team was Squall, Rinoa, Zell. Carry lots of aura spells or stones. 99 Megga-elixirs! Just keep shell and protect up and just try to get Rinoa and squalls ultimate limit breaks - Lionheart does huge damage and wishing star does shit loads. Like has been said before, follow a set plan v omegas set plan and you should be able to beat him.

The only thing I'll say about meltdown is that it's far FAR better to just summon doomtrain. The effect meltdown afflicts is called vitality 0. If you summon doomtrain it works every time. Also, use those frickin holy wars, dog! This the hardest boss in the game lmao this is what they are for.

I never figured out how to deal with Terra Break beyond using holy wars and heroes. No matter what your stats, Terra break will party wipe your team unless you negate the damage somehow. Now I know that defend completely negates it. Cool.

BlizzardandBlaze Defend, Holy Wars, Heroes are the only thing that prevents a party wipe. Well, also if someone is lucky and takes the less hits from the attack.

By the way, AP Ammo would definitely be best for Irvine in this battle. Much faster, but still would hit 9999. If you get it down, it's possible to get 30 hits in back and forth between Booya and Heel Drop for Zell, making the most powerful Limit Break besides Lion Heart and The End.

I always killed Omega Weapon with The end, Selphie magic! is the best mode to kill, use Aura, Hero item her and find The End =) This magic kill all enemy except the last boss

Quick ammo not better but faster and had more damage, as long as you get 255 Str on Irvine and meltdown Omega first.

The End also doesn't work on X-ATM92 (or whatever it was called), due to it's repair mechanic.

I always used smth like 'steel ammo' with Irvine (played in german, dno if its the same in english). I think it does more damage per use than Quick Shot (~5 x 9999 as far as I remember )

I had to beat this boss because of my screen name. I fought him today without defend, hero's, or holy wars. I got my ass saved by Phoenix after everyone died from Terra Break. Man, that was a battle. Also, I gotta say that Ultimecia puts up a good fight in this game. First time I fought her, I lost all my party members except Squall.

Dude got so lucky on that one Terra Break. I saw him have Irvine use an Aura Stone right before and thought, "Game over. He's going to play catch up until he loses or gets lucky." Sure enough he got lucky right off the bat.

I love this fight so much. Skilled players make it look easy, but believe me, it isn't. One mistake, one hesitation, and you're done. But since Omega uses a fixed attack pattern, all it takes to beat him is a pattern on your end to deal, mitigate, and recover from damage and KO's caused to you. You just have to keep it up, and that is the challenge. BTW, it is totally possible to do this without the use of full restorative items.

I remember this boss so dearly in my childhood haha..I actually liked the last level where you fought various bosses to get back your abilities. Of course it was much more enjoyable with Enc-None haha. I never understood how it was possible to beat Omega without Holy Wars, because of the fact he could wipe the floor with your asses in one hit at any given moment. I understand Phoenix COULD help (but never ever did it help me, despite the whole side quest to "get" it).

I forget the lineup but I remember I had one holy war that I dropped immediately, I built defense, then I tried to spam Squall's limit breaks in hopes of repeated Lionharts. The one time I beat him I got something like 7 lionharts. I don't think they were all consecutive but there wasn't many variations. I was young so I didn't understand AI patterns to that degree.

Nice job actually fighting it instead "cheating" :) I've beaten it by spamming Zell's limits, which is probably how most people have beaten it, and others have simply tried to outspeed it with haste and constant limit attacks. Seeing someone beating it based on the simple AI script is pretty cool :) In my opinion this is a very manageable fight, Omega will just punish you HARD if you mess up.

+Mathias Yeah timing is key. It's during those small windows it's smart to spam Duel and Shot, it's AI script is easy to follow but the consequence of messing up is serious.

RoxasNova I wonder how tough the fight is on a low level. FF VIII scales down the enemy level so that it's similar to yours. And since bosses don't give EXP you can fight it on an extremely low level on which it is much weaker and far below 1 million HP.

@Slumerican Mystik No they didn't lol. Terra Break can be Defended since it's a physical move. Try not to educate other people on the game if you have no idea how it works.

@Slumerican Mystik The only difference between the new one and the PS1 one is the level balance. The new one's level is related to your party average whilst the PS1 one has a set level 100. Fighting it with level 100 characters is the same. I have beaten it without the use of heros and many others have. Megiddo Flame can be withstood with having all your characters at maximum HP. Terra Break can be blocked with Defend, yes it's worth replacing GF or Draw lol smh. Again, you're uneducated about the game and have a false sense of superiority.

Omega Weapon for sure!👍💪 Way before KZfaq or Internet tips etc,it took me like 20 trys vs Omega Weapon till i beat him cos darn Terra Break was a nightmare what normally killed me ffs! But i Kick Omega Weapons ass total 2 times and ill still remember the 1st time when this tuff Bastard finally die and the feeling was Great cos after about 20 losses,i rly wanted to Killed Omega so badly!Only Squall was alive and he got 1 health left and thank God i got Lion Heart in Last attack and Boom,Omega Weapon got killed 👍😎 2nd time was pretty easy cos i find a good strategy and the final Boss,Ultimecia was way too easy 👎 Imo FF8 is the Best FF game ever!👍💪

Squal Riona and Zell is a better pair. Riona can put auto-revive, aura stone and haste or helps partner invisible and ocasionally on limit break..let squall and zell do the limit break..the game ends faster

@@noelconde995 If you hit a good 10-12 second interval Zell's Armageddon fists is insane damage. Between hitting Beat Rush and Booya you can do those at least 3 times per second. Which equals to a good 30 hits that do 9999 more than Lionheart.

I was beat omega weapon without using any item, Rinoa and Squall limit break (Invisible Moon and Lion Heart) is very helpful.

RoxasNova, question for you: if you've played Final Fantasy 7 as well, which did you find harder; Omega from 8, Ruby WEAPON from 7, or Emerald WEAPON from 7? Just out of curiosity.

ThereWasNoFreeName Both are easy to defeat if you know how. Bonus Emerald Weapon : Use Lucky Seven Ruby Weapon : Never use Physical/Limit Brake to defeat him (Even "Lucky Seven" wont work), start with one strongest player (His a knight, so fight him like a knight, one on one battle) and defeat him with Knight of Round Materia that link to counter and link to HP-MP absorb. You just need to summon Knight of round Once and just sit and watch. Omega weapon : Concentrate on Meltdown on him first until he changed colour, after that wait for Megido Flame, and Holy War (Maybe you wont need holy war if you know how to spam zell limit break) He'll be over in less than 3 minutes.

Yohakim Samponu I did a bit diffirent. Master summon materia + W summon. when he did summon tentacles i just used W KOTR on tentacles, 1st killing them and 2nd damaging Ruby. Was pretty easy, but you can't just fight him without doing some tricks.

ThereWasNoFreeName The problem with that is that when you kill the tentacles, his body becomes highly resistant to damage as long as they stay dead. While they're alive, he takes damage normally.

ThereWasNoFreeName It's not efficient, because like David say when you kill tentacles his body highly resistant damage, just concentrate attack on him. Try my tips (correction) Mimic Materia Link COUNTER MATERIA (you can only found it in the last part of game), and Master KOTR Link HP MP Absorb. You only need to summon KOTR once after that you will automaticaly summon ( and restore your HP and MP) automatically each time you are attacked by him. You may just sit, go out, hangout, drinking coffee or even watching movies and check back that Ruby's turn to ash.. :D

I'll admit it, i was too chicken to fight this boss. I don't think even with my lion heart and aura spells could match this bastards stats. But maybe now i'll re-upload my old save file and give it the ol' college try. Great job man, now Squall can say he only lost to a 14 year old kid with a keyblade and starting out equipment lol.But that's a whole other game :D Congrats on the win!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the strongest boss in the game, even power than ultimecia isnt it. 17 years ago if not mistaken, i was 13 while playing this game. Good old days!! 🥰

@@AvielNova The only things dangerous about Ultimecia are the Shockwave Pulsar gear check and her Apocalypse spell if she gets it off. Other than that she's a cakewalk.

Meltdown is successful when the target turns purple-ish pink color. That's when you know vit = zero.

I know I'm late but notice that omega turns purple after this meltdown 2:44 , meltdown has a chance to inflict a status ailment that reduces the targets defence to 0. Notice that after omega turns purple he starts taking MAXIMUM DAMAGE!!

I was able to defeat it with defend on Zell who had the revive and heal equipped, i also used a bunch of aura and elixir etc, i wanted to keep those for the final boss, but the final boss was way easier so it was worth it. Got all the trophy of the game and wanted to cry of happiness!

Noor Farah to use zell limit break is to input the command as shown in the menu. just choose one, then it repeats until time out when you use defend, when its the defend character turn, if you input another command, the defend will be gone, you just have to wait till the enemy do things first before you put input

ALSO Defend is worthless against Non-physical attacks (ie Megiddo Flame)
