I’ve been thinking about this and it’s based on their sigils/crests that you find in game connected to the 7 classical planets and their rulers. Yuna is cancer/moon, Tidus is Leo/sun, Auron is Scorpio because Scorpios classic ruler is Mars (he doesn’t come off as an Ares), Wakka is Sagittarius/Jupiter, Lulu is Libra/Venus, Rikku is Gemini/Mercury, and Kimhari is Capricorn/Saturn.

This is actually what I came here to comment EXCEPT using their sigils assigned in the original Japanese version where their crests and sigils also line up with their personalities and lore because of Japanese planet names. Wakka gets Mercury which is Suisei or Water Star in Japanese. He plays Blitzball and lives on an island and is able to battle underwater. Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo and he feels more Gemini to me. Lulu is Mars which is Kasei or Fire Star in Japanese which references her short temper. Mars is ruled by Aries which I can see given how often she takes the lead especially with Tidus early on. Rikku gets Venus or Kinsei or Gold/Metal Star. She is Al Bhed and deals with machina and her hair is blonde (gold). Venus is a Libra which I don't know too much about. Auron is Saturn or Dosei or Earth Star. This one is both because he's a stoic character but also because he is an unsent. Saturn is ruled by Capricorn and Auron is HELLA hard headed. Kimahri gets Jupiter which is Mokusei or Wood Star. This one is harder to pin down for me but Jupiter is the largest planet and he is the tallest party member. Jupiter also has constant storms on its surface and you find the Spirit Lance in the Thunder Plains. Jupiter gets Sagittarius which is a centaur and Kimahri is already a beastman hunter so that fits. These five guardains and their planets' names align with the five elements of traditional East Asian mythology: water, fire, metal, earth, and wood. So it's a neat bit of knowledge to have. Tidus is Tiida which is Okinawan for Sun which is Leo and being the star player that definitely fits him well. Yuuna is the Okinawan word for the sea hibiscus flower which is also the flower decorating her outfit. The sea hibiscus is a flower that blooms at dusk so symbolically for Yuuna to "bloom" the sun has to disappear, and Tidus is her sun. The moon is ruled by Cancer and I think it fits very well with a caregiver type.

I always thought this too. Lulu always seemed like a Taurus to me. Tidus a Leo, and Rikku is as Gemini as they come

Ah yes, the absentee father. My star sign. I think he always wanted to connect with tidus. I feel like he loved him very much. He just kept letting that toxic masculinity get in the way of his connections. Aquarius is the humanitarian sign as well. Self sacrifice for the greater good is a trait of the water bearer.

I am not very drawn to the zodiac system, but I was curious so I clicked the video. And directly at the beginning, when you say Yuna is a libra, she is my favourite female character in the final fantasy series it hit my heart. I am also libra and your analysis is spot on. I really enjoyed your interpretations of the zodiac signs for the FFX characters, I do very much agree that Tidus strikes like an Aries/Pisces combination with his placements and personality. Yuna also seems so fitting with being a Libra, Auron is definitely a Virgo. I always considered Lulu however more of a Taurus, but it made a lot of sense by how you described her as a Capricorn so that changed my mind. Rikku is obviously a Gemini that goes without saying, I find Kimahri Ronso sort of like a Cancer to me, oh and Wakka is a Leo for sure.

I wouldn't call Yuna "gullible" for following the teachings early on, considering when the facade of yevon crumbles she has no hesitation or qualms with going against those teachings. Also, compared to Wakka's beliefs..... lol
