It was still a good game, its just that it was nowhere near as good as it was *supposed* to be. The original plans / story for this game were absolutely breathtaking and gripping, and none of it is actually *in* the final game. The original water god fight was supposed to involve Noctis running around buildings that are falling sideways, killing Empire soldiers and warping through building windows, but the final product never included any of this. There were supposed to be wall-climbing Empire soldiers that you could warp and fight sideways on a wall, the city of Insomnia was originally supposed to be explorable in both the past and the future, and in the future you were allowed to wander the world and there were even new, future-only sidequests to do. The story was a lot darker, more gripping, and Lunafreya was actually really well built up; You were allowed to equip up to 5 weapons instead of 4, but *none* of this was included in the game because of "revisions" that happened around 2014 - 2015 by Square Enix. I still like FFXV, its just that a lot of people were dissapointed in the amount of lost potential the game had. It could've been a masterpiece, but Square Enix cut corners and it turned into a "pretty good" game rather than an absolute banger as it was intended to be. Why would a game from its own series that has nothing to do with ff be the next mainline ff, like it or not, ff 15 is an ff game through and through. Nier just isn’t. Sorry. The closest you get to that is the Nier collabs with ff14
