"I know this hurts." is such a great line. It doesn't really understand what pain is but it understands that what it is doing causes a human pain and humans don't like that.

One of the overlooked aspects of this scene when Sarah dropped that single shell is that it also comes into play later, that single extra shell would have been enough to put the T1000 into the molten steel. Can't believe it took me forever to piece that together, what an amazing movie.

The performance by Robert Patrick was nothing but amazing. There will never be a better T-1000 ever. No expression, yet so scary.

What made the T800 so terrifying in the first film was how relentless it is. It doesn’t stop no matter how much you beat it, shoot it, or maim it. If you take away it’s legs it will crawl, if you take away it’s arm it’ll just use the other one. It will keep going until it’s fulfilled it’s objective. That very thing that made the T800 so terrifying, makes it so inspiring in T2. No matter how much damage it takes, whether it be from the cops firing at him or the t1000 beating him down. The T800 kept getting up and being a ardent defender for both Sarah and Connor. T2 is one of the best films ever made

2:28 the part I like here (and in whole movie) is how un-robotic T-1000 actually is. Instead of going maximum efficiency and finishing T-800 off the moment it falls down, severely damaged and prone, he actually enjoys watching him crawl towards the gun, like a predator with it's deadly wounded prey's last gasps of life. Giving him hope that he'll grab that weapon, only to strike final deadly hit moments before he grabs it. He expresses pride here, sadism, and dominance, which all transcend robotic behavior.

Funnier if you've watched that recent interview Robert Patrick had about accidentally hitting Arnold for real. 🤣 "Robert......dat was muh real arrrrm!"

The fluidity of the t1000 jumping from platform to platform and the angles used to shoot this were truly a first of its kind from a direction stand point. Many films around this time would have slow mo or more dramatic angles, but Cameron decides to do everything in real-time and not cut always. It again enhances the t1000 athleticism and shows more an assassin with martial arts.

I don't think I've seen anyone ever point this out but the T-1000 goes through a slight character arc just as the T-800 did that humanizes both of them. Although the T-1000 didn't go through a full transformation it's intriguing to see how the T-800 went from a cold, soulless killing machine which only concern was it's objective and completing it like a soda machine dispensing your drink but by the end John has taught it what exactly it's protecting and why it's important. It learns what humans really are and comes into an understanding of life itself, and yet sadly it knows that it will never truly experience what it means to be alive itself, which is a beautifully sad thing. I'm getting so tired and over the theme of giving machines a full sense of awareness and emotion when they're machines, the best we'll ever accomplish is an imitation of life, that's it but that doesn't mean they're alive. The T-800 understood that when it said, "I know now why you cry, but it is something I can never do" and it was 100% right, it's nothing but 1s and 0s. And coming back to the T-1000 instead of learning the value of life it comes into it's bit of self awareness in it's growing, disturbing, interest devaluing life. At first it efficiently and quickly killed anyone that got in it's way with the police officer and shoved aside people that were beneath it's notice once John was in it's sight. Yet as time went on it somehow developed an understanding of pain and was fascinated by the concept, the way it took a moment to stare at John's dead foster father and then began to slowly kill people when it made no logical sense to take it's time doing so. All it needed to do was touch Sarah and it could shapeshift into her, yet for some reason it wanted to toy with her just a bit and get her to call to her son instead of doing it itself and killing an immediate threat that's been hindering it. And by the end it seems it even started to develop a sense of self preservation once it realized what the T-800 had hit him with. It was shocked and scared and you could clearly hear that for the first time it was somehow suffering pain as it's weird disgruntled and unsettling moans sounded off until it fell into the lava and you can hear that it's panicking. It such a masterfully creepy scene when compared to the first T-800's death in which it was crushed, but it didn't seem to care that it was being destroyed, because it had no sense of self-preservation, it didn't feel anything not even a desire to kill. It was simply fulfilling it's task and simply broke in attempting to do that. In that sense it wasn't really being killed, Sarah literally was just breaking it into pieces. But the T-1000 very much conveyed a sense of "I'm dying" and it was creepy.

The T800’s single-minded persistence and drive to achieve its mission makes it a terrifying villain. But as a hero those qualities make it hurt to see it getting beaten like that.

I watched this movie for the first time today... OMFG, was I blown away. I frickin loved the T1000 liquid metal effects, just so many “wow” moments (even now 29 years later). The action sequences were practically perfect and the plot line is unforgettable, but I have to say I really thought Robert Patrick nailed his role. He was so subtly malevolent it was hypnotic. In a nutshell, I loved the movie so much that I had to come back and watch the final battle all over again.

T-1000 is the best villain of all time! I think this movie will still be the number 1 movie even after million years. After million years, I expect the flawless sequel to T2 will be released finally. I just don't want to be terminated until then.

I think what people seem to be missing here is that the T-1000 isn't bound so strictly to any programming the way "solid" terminators are. Sure, he is nevertheless aiming to carry out his mission, but there's a certain sinister curiosity to his actions. Why would he impale Sarah in a non-vital spot, when he could easily have killed her right there and immediately taken her place (and voice)? Why let the T-800 crawl to and almost grab his grenade launcher before finally impaling him with the rod? Heck, when he finally has John right in his sights, why didn't he just move in quickly and make the kill? There's a certain thrill he seems to be getting from "stalking his prey". For a terminator, his actions are uncharacteristically psychotic. It can be said that, given that he's a prototype, his actions and behavior are a side effect to who and what he is. If we take The Sarah Connor Chronicles as canon, the T-1001 chick also acts uncharacteristically. No doubt that Skynet quickly learned of the unpredicability of that model, which is why they weren't mass produced.

Movies like this make wish I could travel back to this time.

The use of practical and cg effects in this movie is just amazing!

From watching this when I was younger than 10 to now watching this at 34, this “alternate power” scene still hits me with the same level of awe. You cannot argue Arnie’s acting was phenomenal and I’ve only grown to appreciate it more as I’ve gotten older. The moment he briefly looks around to reassess his situation when he comes back online, to the ever so subtle sense of frustration he displays when he looks at the bar for a moment before discarding it. This wasn’t “just playing a robot”, this was acting.

This moment when Arnold takes off this metal bar from his chest, and grabs the M-79 to get back to fight, with the main theme, the audience cheered in the theater. We cheered too with my father, I was 10. My greated cinema experience.

I love the physicality of the action. You can feel the weight of punches the T-800 takes.

The T-1000 was so irritated by the inferior T-800 that it took crucial minutes away from finding John to finally get rid of this nuisance to his mission. Every other fight scene the T-1000 just pushes him aside and then runs for John. However the T-1000 has developed its own personality through the course of the film and you can tell it is absolutely _pissed_ by the time its at the steel mill.

This was the best movie I have ever watched in my life. action, story, casting, acting, everything was perfect.

I know I'm not alone in this one, I remember watching T2 for the first time in the cinema and getting so sad when the T-800 gets beat up, and the feeling when he reboots back to life! Now I'm 41 years old and I still get the same feeling, that's how great the character was developed.
