Fun facts. I wondered why Yeats body was moved. Thought it maybe had something to do with WWII, because of the dates. I looked it up. He had told his wife to bury him in France, but in a year, when everybody forgot about him, move his body home to Ireland. Because of the war, it took longer than a year. When they did move him, they were not actually sure if they got the right body. So maybe that’s him, or maybe it’s not.

@HoldenNY22 It is thought that Yeats was fascinated by authoritarian governments, and may have been sympathetic to the preWWII Nazi government. But, he was dead before the war started. So, he wouldn’t have known about the gas chambers and other horrors. One hopes he wouldn’t have been a traitor to his homeland or a supporter of atrocities. But, I am by no means an expert on Yeats.

She is precious. She doesn't use strategy of searching out daily doubles. She starts at the top and moves down methodically. I think this makes it harder to win everytime. In the tournament of champions I hope She changes her strategy and searches out the daily doubles because her opponents surely will be searching them out.

@brownro214
@brownro214 2 жыл бұрын
Not one of her better wagers. She assumes Ben is going to wager everything and that he will be correct. Assuming Ben is correct, if Mattea wagers any amount and is incorrect, she loses. If she wagers any amount and is correct, obviously she wins. If she wagers nothing and Ben is correct with a full wager, then it goes to a tiebreaker. Once she decided to wager something, then the question is how much. Since she must be confident she will get the correct answer, why not go for a bigger payout, say $10000?
@rocky171986
@rocky171986 2 жыл бұрын
Because the guy could have predicted this and not wager everything. And this has happened quite a few times. mattea's $1 wager covers the scenario that the guy doesn't bet everything.
@waheisel
@waheisel 2 жыл бұрын
@@rocky171986 Interesting. But Ben knows he has to get the answer right to have any chance. And he knows there is a fair chance she will bet 0 to assure herself of no worse than a tiebreaker even with a wrong answer. So I don't think it makes sense for him not to go all in. R. Brown did not include the scenario in which they both get it wrong in which case the 1$ wager is a good one. Still I agree with R.; since she bet more than 0, she bet she would get it right, so she might as well bet $10,399 (still beats Christina's maximum)
@waheisel
@waheisel 2 жыл бұрын
Or maybe the explanation is she likes her chances better on the Final Jeopardy question than a tiebreaker question. And maybe she is a conservative investor (especially for one so young) who prefers bonds and CDs to stocks. So she bets on getting final Jeopardy correct to win the game, but doesn't like taking chances with her money.
@DavidDSimon
@DavidDSimon 2 жыл бұрын
The answer is because you're playing with pretend money. She's playing with her own real money so once she bets to win - she then decides whether she feels confident enough in the category to risk it or just be happy with the amount she's already earned.

Categorically no chance of a cheating earpiece. That would be the end of Jeopardy! There are different reasons for winning…. buzzer speed, who gets the bonus double jeopardy and how much do they wager makes a big difference in the outcome of the game. If you wager big and get the wrong answer, boom, you can go from first to last in a second. The same goes the other way….wager high and get the right answer and you are in the lead. They have to think very fast, as to which way to go. But being really smart is also the most important ace in the hole to win the game.
