When you go all out and do such beautiful work, you get to add all the semi-gratuitous camera panning you want 🤣 Truly hero-level work, considering the state in which it arrived. I dare say it's now a Mesa one could be proud to own!

For the oversized Mesa name plate, you could cut off some screws, glue them into the existing holes on the plate, and use double sided tape or perhaps hot glue to affix the name plate to the grill cloth.

Back in the day when I was young, dumb and stupid ignorant, I got a Mk3 decked out simulclassed, hardwood combo with a single EV12L speaker. Besides poor design mine was missing a key ingredient and mine did not have the 5 band graphic eq. What a mistake that was. I think that damned thing weighed more than a fender twin. The weight along with option paralysis was more than I could deal with. I sold it to a friend of mine who thought it sounded great for his 5-string banjo on the clean channel. He still uses it to this day lol….twang twang “boi you got a purty mouth” Deliverance set the banjo back 50yrs or more lmfao..! You did a fantastic job getting that amp back to better than stock condition. I thought that fake heat sink on the back was where they use to beat the hell out of the amp with a hammer. Yours looked like it escaped the fabled “mesa hammer test”. Have a good one mate…a big ole feather in your cap for this repair and re-engineering.

I have a MARSH Springfield with the Overlord circuit ! It's a direct copy of a 65 Vibro. 40 watts 2x12 one of the speakers is a Weber Alnico the other is a Weber "Vintage Series Ferromax!" There's something to chew on ! Marsh makes direct copies of Fender and Marshall to order with choices of tweaks and speakers. Point to point wiring at a third of the price of boutique amps! Thanks for entertaining us !!!

Since about the 1980s, Sprague, then SBE and now I doubt if Cornell Dubilier actually makes any of their orange drop caps either. Same with Mallory 150s. During the beginning of the Cold War, Chicago was the electronics manufacturing center for the USA. The Department of Defense deemed this to be unacceptable and somehow Phoenix, Arizona became an alternate site. Back in the 1970s someone was winding something on every corner in the Phoenix metro area, and we had "Chip Alley", the Motorola MOSFET plants, Honeywell, Intel, Digital and Microchip. I got so spoiled with all the surplus stuff I could get at 50%-99% discount prices.

Great work. By comparison, mine doesn't seem so bad. No mods, I just need to recap it and replace a few overheated resistors. Did you end up doing anything with the ground switch? I did order a capacitor that fails open, but I'm wondering if I can just remove it entirely.

I've heard stories that Mesa/Boogie deliberately make their schematics hard to get and with supposed errors in them, as a way to protect their "intellectual property" even though they pinch a lot of their design work from other amp manufacturers, all it does is make these Mesa/Boogie amps that much more of a PITA to work on.

I see you used 105°C Japanese caps. Why do I see even expensive, like $10s of thousands of dollars expensive, amplifiers with 85°C caps in them? I know it's a cost thing. But why would anyone use cheap caps when they can just pass the cost off to the customer? Look at PC power supplies. They're very efficient and use the best components, at least for the good ones. They don't cost a fortune. These components are not unobtainium. And major kudos for using the Teflon/silver wires. As much as I hate manufacturers charging premium prices and then using crap components, I hate it when techs do the same thing.
