Few things you could do. 1: Pull back some troops to clear up supply 2: pull back to the middle of the country and push forward again, this time with a focus on encirclements 3: try a naval invasion and see if you can’t make a new front in the far north. The first two options are far more likely to work.

Like how you said you can be lazy sometimes getting entrenchment and planning bonuses, I too am also lazy in terms of supply and this hurts me more than anything. In the end I made a naval invasion to the northern most town and luckily it wasn't defended. But by the time I was at war with Spain it was already a year after you, going to try again. I did this thing where I allowed it to get all the way to atheist state with a focus, then did another focus that would normally raise it before doing one that lowers it. The timer it gives you is rather generous.
