Greetings from Ontario. Good to see you on with Russ recently. Last week messing around with the bikes. Therapy for the times but no shop open to get a few parts. Updated the Haro Beasley back to a city bike by removing gears and drop bars and 27.5's. Set up with a fixed/disc Surly hub and 700x35 winter tires. Went for a ride yesterday through some closed road work. Just rolls over the bumps nicely. Had to cheat with a tensioner...40/17. Will have to do that more often not just riding around town. Cheers.

converting a wheel to tubeless instead of patching a tube is too relatable. also the front brake mounts gave me a dumb idea, a standalone bl-rx812 and maybe a drop bar (idk if it works tho)

Kristian Dawe Try a fixed gear bike offroad with brake or brakes. Nobody forces you to use them. Best of both worlds. I also have a freewheel on the flip side of the hub if I get tired out. Its so much fun it shouldn't be legal. My 'Crossafix ' is my most used bike!!

Front foot should have it's pinky toe right on the bolt furthest from the pocket of the board your flicking against. Angle it so your toes face the pocket of your board facing closest to them. Flick up and out, make sure your shoes leave a nice rubber line to see where your good flicks are and where the bad flicks are. The most important thing is to keep your shoulders dead square with the bolts and jump straight up.

Nice vid. What components, fork, tires and size did you use? How much do it weigh? I purchased the same frame and working on a build myself. I saw in a video in the past you made using the Velocity Quill rims would that be a good rim for off roading on that frame? I'm thinking of putting together a set for mine.

So take the hub out of a derailleur wheel, build it up with an offset rim and track hub using the spokes from the derailleur build (but reversed), and not only does it work well enough to roll in the frame, but the worst thing that happens is a flat on the maiden ride, and you gotta go tubeless (which you were gonna do anyway). Who's your patron saint, Spinney? I want to hire him.

How's the fit on the Tracklocross? I'm trying to determine which size I'd want, but the geometry details are thin at best. The reach on the Medium might be my best option, but I'm afraid it'll have a CX level stand-over that'll make it impossibly uncomfortable to casually ride. Any insight you can add? Does it fit more like a CX frameset?

Hhaha. I like the ending where even the dog knows he needs back tf away from that. That's a pretty little build. I do the same with stems and spacers now but i don't know if it's for the same reason. If I leave enough steerer for just a small spacer on top (or bottom), I'll have more options when I need to replace headsets, stems, bars, whatever.

Well, I've been wondering for the past few days whether I should learn how to maintain/build my own wheels and there I have my answer! Sweet vid as always :) P.S. For the kickflip progress, try to make sure that the toes of your tail foot does not overlap the board. You want to feel your toes pressing on the board and not the edge. Otherwise the pop will be inconsistent and will go sideways hehe.

Everything functions properly kzfaq.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Nothing was damaged in the box aside from a decal on the fork. The decal was missing a piece of a corner but I ended up peeling them off anyways. Assembly is easy BUT make sure you tune up the derailleurs. Both the front and rear need adjusting. I'd advise going to a bike shop but I opted out and put in 10+ hours with the help of KZfaq. Ended up fraying a shifter cable but all in all I learned from the experience. The Brakes work well but the front caliper needs adjusting or at least mine did because the rotor was rubbing against the pads. Make sure you swap out the seat, grips, and pedals. For the short run you'll be fine though. I've read that this bike isn't built yet for hard trails but I just need it for the city. PA has some of the worst roads and being in a mountain this was a great choice. Worth the investment!

According to the Poseidon website they can sell you this bike with a disc brake fork. Frame + fork + headset is $199, so with the disc fork it'll probably come in at ~$250 at most. Not ideal for a SS setup, but a front disc + rear rim brake would still be plenty of braking power considering that the front does a bulk of the work usually. www.poseidonbike.com/collections/single-speed/products/fx-tracklocross-frameset
@rollinrat4850
@rollinrat4850 4 жыл бұрын
Just get an old steel 'cross or touring frame with horizontal dropouts, use the canti fork or buy a disc fork. Run front brake only. You really don't need super strong brakes when riding fixed. A v brake is more than strong enough. If youre fixed you slow mostly with your legs. I only use the brake down steep trails anyway. With fixed you have so much control over traction on the rear wheel. Its really noticeable in low traction situations. AND you get this amazing inertial effect from the spinning wheel!!
